"A Poet" ("Un Poeta") is a dramedy written and directed by Simon Mesa Soto ("Amparo") that stars Ubeimar Rios as Oscar Restrepo, a failed writer who gets a chance at redemption when he mentors a young student. The film won the Un Certain Regard Jury Prize at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival.
The cast also includes Rebeca Andrade, Guillermo Cardona, Allison Correa, Margarita Soto and Humberto Restrepo. "A Poet" was released in theaters on August 28, 2025 in Colombia, and in select theaters in the US on January 30, 2026. On March 24th it was released on digital platforms.
