Written and directed by David Heinz, the drama "American Folk" tells the story of two strangers (played by musicians Joe Purdy and Amber Rubarth), who embark on a road trip to New York in the days after 9/11, re-discovering the healing nature of music and witnessing everyday people finding ways to lift each other up in the wake of tragedy.
The cast also includes Krisha Fairchild, David Fine, Bruce Beatty, Elizabeth Dennehy, Miranda LaDawn Hill and Emma Thatcher.
"American Folk" premiered at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival in February, 2017, and received a limited release in theaters on January 26, 2018. The film earned positive reviews from critics.
