Werckmeister Harmonies 2000 New On Bluray 4k

Product Description: This mesmeric parable of societal collapse is an enigma of transcendent visual, philosophical, and mystical resonance. Adapted from a novel by László Krasznahorkai, Werckmeister Harmonies unfolds in an unknown time in an unnamed village, where, one day, a mysterious circus—complete with an enormous stuffed whale and a shadowy, demagogue-like figure known as the Prince—arrives and appears to awaken a kind of madness in the citizens that builds inexorably toward violence. In thirty-nine hypnotic long takes engraved in ghostly black and white, auteur Béla Tarr and codirector-editor Ágnes Hranitzky conjure an apocalyptic vision of dreamlike dread and fathomless beauty.

New on Blu-ray: DAMNATION / KARHOZAT (1988) - New 4K Restoration of the Film

Product Description: Arbelos Films presents DAMNATION – A film by Béla Tarr, the acclaimed director of SÁTÁNTANGÓ. A mid-career masterwork by legendary Hungarian art house auteur Béla Tarr and the first of his internationally acclaimed trilogy of films written in collaboration with author László Krasznahorkai (including the legendary SÁTÁNTANGÓ). DAMNATION (Kárhozat) chronicles the doomed affair between Bar Titanik regular Karrer (SÁTÁNTANGÓ’s Miklós B. Székely) and the cabaret singer (Vali Kerekes) he pines for while scheming to displace her brutish husband (György Cserhalmi). A poignant Communism allegory that solidified Tarr’s unique aesthetic, DAMNATION is photographed in an exquisitely black & white palette underscored by the mesmerizing long takes that would come to be his mark-in-trade. DAMNATION has been restored in 4K from the original 35mm camera negative by the Hungarian National Film Institute – Film Archive under the supervision of Béla Tarr.
