Directed by Bryan Singer ("X-Men", "The Usual Suspects"), the biopic "Bohemian Rhapsody" chronicles the meteoric rise of the iconic rock band Queen and its extraordinary lead singer Freddie Mercury, played in the film by Rami Malek. The screenplay was written by "The Theory of Everything" and "Darkest hour" scribe Anthony McCarten. The film also stars Ben Hardy, Joseph Mazzello, Allen Leech, Aidan Gillen, Gwilym Lee, Tom Hollander, Lucy Boynton and Mike Myers.

The film had some behind-the-scenes drama of its own. Originally set to star Sacha Baron Cohen as Freddie Mercury in 2010, the film struggled for 5 years in pre-production before finally getting underway with the current cast and crew in 2015. Then, Singer was fired in 2017 after three months of shooting because of his abscence from the set and several clashes with the cast and crew. "Eddie the Eagle" helmer Dexter Fletcher was brought on board to complete the film, but Singer is credited as the only director according to DGA guidelines. For a complete rundown of the production's ups and downs, check out this Hollywood Reporter article.

"Bohemian Rhapsody" opened in theaters in the U.K. on October 24, 2018 and in the U.S. on November 2, 2018. The film has received mostly mixed reviews from critics. It is expected to debut with around $35 million at the box-office from 4,000 theaters.
