The third and final season of the highly acclaimed British crime drama series "Broadchurch" premieres tonight in the U.S. on BBC America at 10p.

Olivia Colman and David Tennant reprise their roles as DS Ellie Miller and DI Alec Hardy as they investigate a rape at a house party, three years after the events of last season.

The cast also includes Jodie Whittaker, Andrew Buchan, Charlotte Beaumont, Matthew Gravelle, Arthur Darvill and Adam Wilson.

BROADCHURCH Season 3 Teaser Trailer

"Broadchurch" returns with a third season on BBC America sometime in 2017, and we have our first look. It's not much, though, only a 10 second teaser that quickly takes a look at some of the characters, but I'm sure fans will devour every second of it.

The returning cast members include David Tennant, Olivia Colman, Jodie Whittaker, Marianne Jean-Baptiste and Charlotte Rampling. There are no details available regarding the plot, except that it's going to be a new story and it will be the show's final season. Here's what creator Chris Chibnall had to say about it:

"We have one last story to tell, featuring both familiar faces and new characters. I hope it’s a compelling and emotional farewell to a world and show that means so much to me."
