Nia Vardalos to Star in Sports Drama 21 DOWN
Nia Vardalos ("My Big Fat Greek Wedding") is set to star in the upcoming sports drama "21 Down" directed by Sean McNamara ("Soul on Fire", "Reagan", "Soul Surfer") from a screenplay written by Jay Paul Deratany ("Foster Boy") and Oscar-winner Ron Bass ("Rain Man", "What Dreams May Come", "My Best Friend's Wedding"). The film is currently shooting in Atlanta.

The film is a deeply moving story about family, perseverance and the fight for inclusion inspired by the true story of Caden Cox, who made history by becoming the first person with Down syndrome to play and score in a college football game.

The cast also includes Dylan Walsh, Richard T. Jones, Moira Kelly, Christopher Convery, Joshua Malina, Max Adler, Ashley Judd and Dashiell Meier. Judd stars as Caden's mother Mari, as the film centers on the unwavering determination of his parents to help their son, against all odds, achieve his dream. Meier plays Caden.

Producers include Andrew Sugerman (Shopgirl", "Premonition and Conviction") through his company Pantheon Entertainment, Deratany via Reel Red Films, while Judd, Melissa Bickerton and Thom Lipari serve as executive producers.
