"Christopher Robin" is a live-action/CGI re-imagining of Disney's franchise based on
A.A. Milne and
E.H. Shepard's book
"Winnie-the-Pooh". The screenplay is written by
Alex Ross Perry,
Tom McCarthy (
"Spotlight") and
Allison Schroeder (
"Hidden Figures").
The film follows Christopher Robin (
Ewan McGregor), the young boy who loved embarking on adventures in the Hundred Acre Wood with a band of spirited and loveable stuffed animals, who is is now a grown up and has lost his sense of imagination. He is reunited with his childhood friend Winnie-the-Pooh (
Jim Cummings), who needs his help finding his friends, and ultimately helps Christopher rediscover the joys of life.
The cast also includes
Hayley Atwell, Bronte Carmichael, Mark Gatiss, Amanda Lawrence and
Ronke Adekoluejo.
"Christopher Robin" opened in theaters on August 3, 2018 and received mostly mixed reviews from critics. The film is expected to gross around $30 million in its opening weekend, and it has already brought in $1.5 million from Thursday night previews.
