Weekend Box-Office: CRAZY RICH ASIANS Continues To Dominate; THE HAPPYTIME MURDERS and A.X.L. Disappoint

"Crazy Rich Asians" pulled off an incredible feat over the weekend and continues to dominate the box-office charts. As for the new releases, the dark crime comedy "The Happytime Murders" and the sci-fi adventure "A.X.L." failed to impress.

Weekend Box-Office: THE MEG Scores Surprisingly Huge Debut

The giant shark vs. Jason Statham thriller "The Meg" won the weekend race at the box-office with surprisingly high numbers. Other new releases "Slender Man" and "Blackkklansman" performed according to expectations, delivering decent results. "Dog Days", however, failed to make the Top 10.

Disney's live-action/CGI film "Christopher Robin" had a pretty rough weekend, failing to take down Tom Cruise's action behemoth "Mission: Impossible - Fallout". The other new arrivals, the R-rated comedy "The Spy Who Dumped Me" and the YA sci-fi thriller "The Darkest Minds" also had it pretty rough.

"Christopher Robin" is a live-action/CGI re-imagining of Disney's franchise based on A.A. Milne and E.H. Shepard's book "Winnie-the-Pooh". The screenplay is written by Alex Ross Perry, Tom McCarthy ("Spotlight") and Allison Schroeder ("Hidden Figures").

The film follows Christopher Robin (Ewan McGregor), the young boy who loved embarking on adventures in the Hundred Acre Wood with a band of spirited and loveable stuffed animals, who is is now a grown up and has lost his sense of imagination. He is reunited with his childhood friend Winnie-the-Pooh (Jim Cummings), who needs his help finding his friends, and ultimately helps Christopher rediscover the joys of life.

The cast also includes Hayley Atwell, Bronte Carmichael, Mark Gatiss, Amanda Lawrence and Ronke Adekoluejo.

"Christopher Robin" opened in theaters on August 3, 2018 and received mostly mixed reviews from critics. The film is expected to gross around $30 million in its opening weekend, and it has already brought in $1.5 million from Thursday night previews.

New Trailer for Disney's CHRISTOPHER ROBIN Starring Ewan McGregor

Disney has released the first full-length trailer for their upcoming film "Christopher Robin" inspired by the classic children's stories and the studio's own cartoons. Directed by Marc Forster ("Finding Neverland"), the film stars Ewan McGregor as Christopher Robin, the boy from the Winnie-the-Pooh stories, who is now a working-class family man who has lost his imagination. Pooh (voiced by Jim Cummings) re-enters his life and asks for his help in finding his lost friends.

The cast also includes Hayley Atwell, Bronte Carmichael, Mark Gatiss, Chris O'Dowd, Brad Garrett, Toby Jones, Nick Mohammed, Peter Capaldi and Sophie Okonedo

Today we have the first official trailers for Disney's CGI/live-action hybrid "Christopher Robin" based on A.A. Mildne's classic "Winnie-the-Pooh" books, and the period drama "The Seagull" starring Saoirse Ronan and Annette Bening that is based on the 19th-century Anton Chekhov stage play of the same name.

Netflix has also released the official trailer for "Lost in Space" and a Date Announcement teaser for the second season of Marvel's "Luke Cage". An official trailer was also released for FX's "Legion" Season 2. Meanwhile, Cinemax offered a first look at their original six-part thriller "Relik".
