in-theaters-the-gentlemen-the-turning-last-full-measure-color-out-of-space

The new releases this week won't pose much of a threat to "Bad Boys For Life", but we definitely have a wide variety of genres to choose from. The first new release is STX's "The Gentlemen", a new Guy Ritchie film boasting a solid ensemble cast that includes Matthew McConaughey, Charlie Hunnam, Michelle Dockery and Colin Farrell. The R-rated film picked up a modest $725,000 from Thursday previews and will probably end up with around $11 million from 2,165 theaters this weekend.

For horror fans we have "The Turning" starring Mackenzie Davis. The film was a passion project for Steven Spielberg, who serves as an executive producer, and it's based on the 1898 story "The Turn of the Screw" by Henry James. It raked in $425,000 from previews, well behind other genre releases, and it's expected to finish the weekend with around $7.0 million from 2,500 theaters.

The last of the new wide releases is the true story war drama "The Last Full Measure". It's acutally a semi-wide release, with just 600 theaters, so there's little hope of it making the Top 10 at the box-office. The film has quite an acting ensemble, which includes Sebastian Stan, Christopher Plummer, William Hurt, Samuel L. Jackson, Peter Fonda, Ed Harris and more.

In limited release it might be worth checking out the sci-fi horror "Color Out of Space" starring Nicolas Cage.

new-movie-trailers-bad-boys-for-life-the-banker-color-out-of-space

Today we have new trailers for:
  • The third installment in the "Bad Boys" series starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. "Bad Boys for Life" is directed by Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah ("Snowfall"), and it also stars Joe Pantoliano, Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig, Charles Melton, Paola Nunez and Kate Del Castillo.
  • Apple TV's original feature film "The Banker" starring Anthony Mackie and Samuel L. Jackson. Directed by George Nolfi ("The Adjustment Bureau"), the film is based on an incredible true story, and it also stars Nia Long and Jessie T. Usher.
  • The upcoming Nicolas Cage horror film "Color Out of Space" from the producers of "Mandy". The film is based on H.P. Lovecraft's classic short story, and it's directed and co-written by cult filmmaker Richard Stanley ("Hardware", "Dust Devil"). This is Stanley's first feature film since his firing from the infamous 1996 flop "The Island of Dr. Moreau".
  • The critically acclaimed Netflix drama "The Two Popes" that stars Anthony Hopkins as Pope Benedict XVI and Jonathan Pryce as Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio of Buenos Aires, who would later become the current Pope Francis. The film is directed by Fernando Meirelles ("The Constant Gardener", "City of God") from a script by Anthony McCarten ("Darkest Hour").
  • The Apple original film "Hala" starring Geraldine Viswanathan ("Blockers"), Jack Kilmer, Azad Khan, Purbi Joshi, Gabriel Luna, Taylor Blim and Anna Chlumsky.
  • The fantasy-realism film "Wendy" from Oscar-nominated filmmaker Benh Zeitlin ("Beasts of the Southern Wild").
