The World War II drama "The Zookeeper's Wife" is based on Diane Ackerman's non-fiction book of the same name, which is inspired by the unpublished diary of Antonina Żabińska.
Directed by Niki Caro ("Whale Rider"), the film stars Jessica Chastain as Żabińska, who along with her husband Jan (Johan Heldenbergh) ran a Zoo in Warsaw and helped save hundreds of people during the Nazi invasion by covertly working with the Resistance. Daniel Brühl, Shira Haas, Iddo Goldberg and Michael McElhatton co-star.
"The Zookeeper's Wife" opens in theaters on March 31, 2017.
