Academy Award nominee Rachel McAdams ("Spotlight") is in talks to join the drama "Disobedience", based on the novel written by Naomi Alderman. If the deals goes through, she will star opposite Rachel Weisz.

Directed by Sebastian Lelio ("Gloria") from a script penned by Rebecca Lenkiewicz ("Ida"), the film follows Ronit Krushk (Weisz), a 32-year-old woman who returns to her Orthodox Jewish home when her estranged father dies. She then causes a scandal in the community when she rekindles a repressed love with her best friend (McAdams), a woman now married to her cousin.

Production is expected to begin early next year.
