razzies-2021-awards-nominations

The nominations for the 41st Golden Raspberry Awards have been revealed, and they include cinematic stinkers like the Robert Downey Jr flop "Dolittle", the misguided "Fantasy Island" remake, the Adam Sandler flick "Hubie Halloween", and the Polish "Fifty Shades of Grey" rip-off "365 Days".

There are of course some bizzare nominations, as is tradition for the Razzies, including Glenn Close getting a nod for "Hillbilly Elegy" while also nominated for an Oscar for the same role, and Kristen Wiig being nominated for "Wonder Woman 1984". Then there are the Rudy Giuliani nominations. Giuliani appeared in "Borat Subsequent Moviefilm" in a non-acting capacity, which makes the nominations more of a political statement.

The 41st Golden Raspberry Awards winners will be announced Saturday, April 24, 2021.

dolittle-2020-new-on-dvd-bluray-and-4k-ultra-hd

Product Description: Robert Downey Jr. electrifies one of literature’s most enduring characters in a vivid reimagining of the classic tale of the man who could talk to animals: Dolittle. After losing his wife seven years earlier, the eccentric Dr. John Dolittle (Downey), famed doctor and veterinarian of Queen Victoria’s England, hermits himself away behind the high walls of Dolittle Manor with only his menagerie of exotic animals for company. But when the young queen (Jessie Buckley, Wild Rose) falls gravely ill, a reluctant Dolittle is forced to set sail on an epic adventure to a mythical island in search of a cure, regaining his wit and courage as he crosses old adversaries and discovers wondrous creatures. The doctor is joined on his quest by a young, self-appointed apprentice (Dunkirk’s Harry Collett) and a raucous coterie of animal friends, including an anxious gorilla (Oscar winner Rami Malek), an enthusiastic but bird-brained duck (Oscar winner Octavia Spencer), a bickering duo of a cynical ostrich (The Big Sick’s Kumail Nanjiani) and an upbeat polar bear (John Cena, Bumblebee) and a headstrong parrot (Oscar winner Emma Thompson), who serves as Dolittle’s most trusted advisor and confidante.

"Birds of Prey" turned out to be a bit of a disappointment at the box-office, as the film underperformed in its opening weekend. Even more surprising since it was the weekend's only new wide release and only had a bunch of holdovers to compete against.

Two new wide releases will do battle for the top spot at the box-office over the four-day MLK weekend. The first is Sony's "Bad Boys For Life", the long-delayed third installment in the "Bad Boys" franchise starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. The film is off to a great start, with surprisingly solid reviews and a record-breaking $6.36 million from Thursday night previews. While Sony expects a $38 million four-day opening weekend from 3,775 theaters, its performance so far suggests something closer to $50 million.

The other new release is Universal's $175 million family adventure film "Dolittle" starring Robert Downey Jr. in his first post-Avengers role. The film, as it turns out, is something of a fiasco. Reviews are mostly negative, and comparable to the studio's awful "Cats", and with just $925,000 from previews, the film is only expected to rake in around $20 million from 4,000 theaters over the extended holiday weekend.

In limited release it might be worth checking out GKids' animated film "Weathering With You", which opens in 450 locations this weekend, and has, so far grossed a total of $180 million worldwide.
