Directed by David Wain ("Wet Hot American Summer"), the biopic "A Futile and Stupid Gesture" chronicles the rise and fall of National Lampoon and it stars Will Forte and Domhnall Gleeson as its creators, comedy writers Doug Kenney and Henry Beard.
The film is based on the book of the same name written by David Wain. The cast also includes Neil Casey, Emmy Rossum, Ed Helms, Max Greenfield, Seth Green, John Gemberling, Matt Walsh, Finn Wittrock, Annette O'Toole, and Jon Daly.
"A Futile and Stupid Gesture" premiered at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival and was released on Netflix on January 26, 2018. The film received mixed reviews from critics.
