Amrum 2025 Movie Trailer Clips Featurettes Images Posters

"Amrum" is a coming-of-age historical drama directed by Golden Globe-winning director Fatih Akin ("In the Fade") from a script he co-wrote alongside Hark Bohm, based on the latter's childhood on the German island of Amrum during the last months of the World War II. Akin reunites with frequent collaborator Diane Kruger, and the cast also includes Jasper Billerbeck, Kian Köppke, Laura Tonke, Detlev Buck and Matthias Schweighöfer.

The film premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, and was released in theaters in Germany on October 9, 2025. Bohm died two months after the film's theatrical release in Germany. In the US it was released in select theaters on April 17, 2026, and via streaming on June 2nd.

Product Description: After the death of her family in a terrorist attack, Katja’s life falls apart. Her friends and extended family try to give her the support she needs, and Katja somehow manages to make it through the funeral. But the mind numbing search for the perpetrators and reasons behind the senseless killing complicate Katja’s painful mourning, opening wounds and doubts. Katja struggles as she endures the trial against the two suspects: a young couple from the neo-Nazi scene. The trial pushes Katja to the edge and there’s simply no alternative for her: she wants justice.

Written and directed by Fatih Akin ("Goodbye Berlin"), the German drama "In the Fade" stars Diane Kruger ("Inglourious Basterds") as a woman whose life collapses when her husband Nuri and little son Rocco are killed in a bomb attack. Denis Moschitto, Numan Acar, Ulrich Tukur, Johannes Krisch and Samia Chancrin also star. Queens of the Stone Age lead singer Josh Homme composed the film's original score.

The film won a Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film and Best Actress (Kruger) at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival. It was also nominated for the Palme d'Or. In December it was announced that the film made it onto the Academy Awards shortlist, but it failed to secure a nomination.

"In the Fade" premiered in Germany on November 23, 2017 and in the U.S in select theaters on December 27.
