Weekend Box-Office: FIFTY SHADES FREED Tops Charts as Franchise Hits $1 Billion

The third installment in the "Fifty Shades" series finished the weekend at the top of the box-office, but failed to make much of an impression compared to its predecessors. Meanwhile "Peter Rabbit" and Eastwood's "The 15:17 to Paris" scored decent openings.

FIFTY SHADES FREED Trailers, Clips, B-Roll, Images and Posters

"Fifty Shades Freed" is the third and final installment in the erotic drama franchise based on the novels written by E.L. James. Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan reprise their roles as Anastasia Steel and Christian Grey, who in this film become Mr. and Mrs. Grey. But, the newlywed's happiness is short-lived as a new threat could jeopardize their happy ending before it even begins.

"Fifty Shades Darker" director James Foley ("House of Cards") returns to helm the new installment, and the cast also includes Eric Johnson, Eloise Mumford, Rita Ora, Luke Grimes, Victor Rasuk, Jennifer Ehle, Kim Basinger, Marcia Gay Harden, Max Martini and Arielle Kebbel.

"Fifty Shades Freed" opened in theaters on February 9, 2018, and received negative reviews from critics. The film is expected to gross around $40 million in its opening weekend after grossing $18.5 million on Friday.
