The Monster Squad 1987 New On Bluray 4k

Product Description: You know who to call when you have ghosts, but who do you call about monsters? The Monster Squad—a group of young kids devoted to protecting their suburban neighborhood from strange things that go bump in the night. They ain’t afraid of no ghouls! Count Dracula (Duncan Regehr) escapes Van Helsing (Jack Gwillim) and adjourns to modern-day Earth in search of an ancient amulet that will grant him final control over the delicate balance between good and evil in the world. To help him, the creepy Count calls on some old friends: the weird Wolfman (Carl Thibault), grotesque Gill-Man (Tom Woodruff Jr.), mildewed Mummy (Michael MacKay) and freaky Frankenstein (Tom Noonan). Standing in their way—The Monster Squad! Produced by Peter Hyams (Running Scared), written by Shane Black (Lethal Weapon) and Fred Dekker (Night of the Creeps) and directed by Dekker, the cult smash Monster Squad makes ghost-busting look like child’s play!

Product Description: When it was released in 1987, The Monster Squad was deemed a failure by critics and was, according to the box office, a film no one cared about. But over the last three decades, word of mouth has turned this sleeping hit into a cultural phenomenon.

Twenty-seven years later, his cryogenically frozen body is thawed out by fraternity pledges ... and the campus is quickly overrun by alien creatures whose victims turn into zombies! Fred Dekker’s thoroughly enjoyable throwback chiller deftly mixes all sorts of genres while simultaneously having fun with them (the college and all the leading characters are named after famous horror movie directors).

predator-sequel-shane-black

Shane Black
It's no surprise, really, that 20th Century Fox is moving forward with a new installment in the "Predator" franchise. What is surprising, though, is that Fox has chosen "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" and "Iron Man 3" writer/director Shane Black to write and direct the movie. He will write the first treatment of the script, and then scripting duties will be handled by Fred Dekker. Although initially this bit of news came as a report about a reboot being in the works, things were clarified by Black himself.

Here's what the filmmaker had to say about the sequel: "As far as Fred and I are concerned anyway, why start over, when you’ve all this rich mythology yet to mine ?" He also added that he likes "the idea of expanding and exploring the existing Predator mythology, rather than hitting the restart button." Dekker and Black have worked together in the past on the action comedy "The Monster Squad", which Dekker directed and co-wrote with Black.

This sounds like a bold move on Fox's part, but one that could pay off. The previous attempt to reboot the franchise with 2010's "Predators" produced by Robert Rodriguez and directed by Nimrod Antal, did not turn out the way the studio was expecting, so this new attempt clearly requires a different approach that, hopefully, Shane Black can deliver.
