"The Loudest Voice" is a biographical miniseries based on the book "The Loudest Voice in the Room" by Gabriel Sherman.

Executive produced by Tom McCarthy ("Spotlight") and Jason Blum ("The Purge", "Insidious"), the series chronicles the rise of Roger Ailes, the man who in the past decade was the Republican Party's de facto leader, and was responsible for molding Fox News into a force that irrevocably changed the conversation about the highest levels of government.

The cast features Russell Crowe, Sienna Miller, Seth MacFarlane, Naomi Watts, Simon McBurney and Annabelle Wallis.

"The Loudest Voice" premiered on June 30, 2019 on Showtime.

Russell Crowe to Star As Roger Ailes in Showtime Limited Series

Oscar winner Russell Crowe is set to star former Fox News Chairman and CEO Roger Ailes in an upcoming limited series developed for Showtime. The eight-episode miniseries is based on Gabriel Sherman's New York magazine articles and subsequent book "The Loudest Voice in the Room: How the Brilliant, Bombastic Roger Ailes Built Fox News--and Divided a Country".

The film will be told from multiple perspectives and is intended to shed light on the psychology that drives the political process from the top down. Ailes ran Fox News for two decades starting in 1996, and was forced to leave the company in 2016, following multiple accusations of sexual harassment. Ailes became and adviser for Donald Trump's campaign after he left Fox, and died months later.

The first episode's script will be written by Sherman and "Spotlight" writer/director Tom McCarthy. McCarthy and Jason Blum ("Get Out") will serve as executive producers.

The limited series does not have an official premiere date, but Entertainment Weekly has suggested a possible 2019 release.

"To understand the events that led to the rise of Donald Trump, one must understand Ailes. The upcoming limited series takes on that challenge, focusing primarily on the past decade in which Ailes arguably became the Republican Party’s de facto leader, while flashing back to defining events in Ailes’s life, including an initial meeting with Richard Nixon on the set of The Mike Douglas Show that gave birth to Ailes’s political career, and the sexual harassment accusations and settlements that brought his Fox News reign to an end. Told through multiple points of view, the limited series aims to shed light on the psychology that drives the political process from the top down.

In many ways, the collision between the media and politics has come to define the world we live in today. We’ve seen this phenomenon depicted on screen as far back as the story of Charles Foster Kane, and it finds contemporary embodiment in the rise and fall of Roger Ailes. With Russell Crowe in the lead role, this limited series promises to be a defining story for this era."
