Through a chance encounter with a transfer student, he trains to become an idol, starting his search for self-identity and a journey toward greatness beyond superstardom. Written, directed, edited and entirely hand-drawn by newcomer Ryuya Suzuki over eighteen months, Jinsei (meaning “life” in Japanese) is an anime tour-de-force that announces Suzuki to the world as a bold new talent in independent animation.

"Jinsei" is a Japanese surreal hand-drawn anime film written and directed by Ryuya Suzuki in his feature film debut. The story follows a bullied Japanese boy who becomes a J-pop idol, an outcast, and an oracle in this 100-year chronicle of an extraordinary life, spanning the past, present, and future.

The voice cast includes Ace Cool, Remi Chon, Eri Kamataki, Katsuya Magma, Ayumu Nakajima, Tsubaki Nekoze, Ryotaro Nishino and Miho Ohashi. Suzuki wrote, directed, animated, and scored the film completely by himself.

"Jinsei" was released in select theaters in the US on June 5, 2026, and via streaming on July 17, 2026.
