"Katy Keene" is a new musical dramedy series developed by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa based on the Archie Comics character of the same name. The show is a "Riverdale" spinoff that takes place five years after the events of the original series, and it stars Lucy Hale as the titular protagonist, an aspiring fashion designer trying to navigate her way in New York City. The cast also includes Ashleigh Murray, Camille Hyde, Jonny Beauchamp, Julia Chan, Lucien Laviscount, Zane Holtz and Katherine LaNasa.

"Katy Keene" premiered on February 6, 2020 on The CW.

Lucy Hale to Play Title Character in RIVERDALE Spinoff

Lucy Hale, who is better known for shows like "Life Sentence" and "Pretty Little Liars", as well as the Blumhouse horror "Truth or Dare", is set to star as the lead in The CW's upcoming "Riverdale" spinoff pilot "Katy Keene".

The character is a twenty-something New Yorker working as a personal shopper at a luxury department store. She is "bold, big-hearted and independent", and dreams of becoming a fashion designer. The show will follow the lives of four iconic Archie Comics characters, including Katy Keene (Hale) and singer/songwriter Josie McCoy (Ashleigh Murray) as they try to make it "on Broadway, on the runway and in the recording studio".

The cast also includes Jonny Beauchamp and Julia Chan. The pilot will be set a few years ahead of the evens in "Riverdale". The original series' showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa co-wrote the "Katy Keene" pilot alongside Michael Grassi.

Hale previously starred in The CW's series "Life Sentence", which aired for only one season. She also finished working on the Blumhouse film "Fantasy Island", which also stars Michael Pena and Maggie Q, and the romantic comedy "A Nice Girl Like You".
