The action thriller "Death Wish" is a remake of the 1974 film of the same name starring Charles Bronson, which was based on the homonymous 1972 novel written by Brian Garfield.
Directed by Eli Roth ("Hostel") from a script by Joe Carnahan ("The Grey"), the 2018 film stars Bruce Willis as a doctor who turns into a deadly vigilante after a vicious attack on his family. Vincent D'Onofrio, Dean Norris, Kimberly Elise, Beau Knapp, Camila Morrone and Elisabeth Shue co-star.
"Death Wish" opened in theaters on March 2, 2018 and received harsh negative reviews from critics, who attacked the film for its unfortunate timing, being released just 16 days after the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting, as well as for adding nothing new to the genre. The film received a more positive reception from moviegoers (86% on Rotten Tomatoes, 7.2 on Metacritic, 6.8 on IMdB and a "B+" on CinemaScore), and opened with a decent $13 million at the box-office.
