Nicole Ari Parker Joins HBO's DC Studios Series LANTERNS

Nicole Ari Parker ("And Just Like That", "Empire") has signed on to star in HBO's upcoming DC drama series "Lanterns" in a recurring role as John Stewart's mother Bernadette. The cast also includes Kelly Macdonald, Garret Dillahunt, Poorna Jagannathan and Ulrich Thomsen as Green Lantern villain Sinestro.

The series follows Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler) and John Stewart (Aaron Pierre), two members of the Green Lantern Corps, an intergalactic team charged with defending a specific realm of the cosmos from evil through the use of rings that bestow an array of superhuman powers.

According to the official character description for Bernadette, she is formidable and tenacious, and refuses to give up, no matter how insurmountable the odds. At her core, she's a fiercely protective mother who has worked her entire life to ensure that she and her family will not be passed over.

"Lanterns" is the first live-action series created for DC Studios under co-chairmen/co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran. HBO picked up the series in June, 2024, and it was given an eight-episode, straight-to-series order. Chris Mundy ("True Detective: Night Country", "Ozark") will serve as showrunner and executive producer.

No premiere date has been announced for the series as of yet. In the meantime, Parker can next be seen in the third season of the Max series "And Just Like That" that is set to debut later this year.

The second season of the "Sex and the City" prequel series "And Just Like That" premiered on June 22, 2023 on Max. The cast includes Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis, Sara Ramírez, Sarita Choudhury, Nicole Ari Parker, Karen Pittman, Mario Cantone, David Eigenberg, Evan Handler, Christopher Jackson, Niall Cunningham, Cathy Ang and Alexa Swinton.

ALMOST CHRISTMAS Trailers, Clips, Featurette, Images and Poster

Written and directed by David E. Talbert ("Baggage Claim"), the holiday comedy "Almost Christmas" tells the story of a dysfunctional family that gets together for Thanksgiving to honor the wish of their beloved patriarch (Danny Glover), which is for his family to get along for five days under the same roof without killing one another. The film also stars Omar Epps, Gabrielle Union, Mo'Nique, Nicole Ari Parker, Usher and J.B. Smoove.

"Almost Christmas" opens in theaters on November 11th.

New Clips for REPENTANCE Starring Forest Whitaker and Anthony Mackie

Four new movie clips have been released for Philippe Caland's horror thriller "Repentance". Based on the film "The Gypsy And The Gury", "Repentance" stars Anthony Mackie as an earnest life-coach/author who is mysteriously abducted by a deranged client, Angel Sanchez (Forest Whitaker), who delves into his teachings and uses his spiritual messages against him to terrorize him and his family for their past sins. The film also stars Mike Epps, Sanaa Lathan and Nicole Ari Parker.

"Repentance" opens in theaters on February 28, 2014.

REPENTANCE Trailer & Poster - Forest Whitaker, Anthony Mackie

The first trailer and poster for director Philippe Caland's horror thriller "Repentance" have been released.

The film stars Anthony Mackie, Forest Whitaker, Mike Epps, Sanaa Lathan and Nicole Ari Parker.

"Repentance" opens in theaters on February 28, 2014.
