Angelina Jolie Picture

Angelina Jolie has signed on to star in the upcoming biopic "Maria" which will be directed by Pablo Larrain ("Spencer", "Jackie") from a script by Steven Knight ("Peaky Blinders", "Spencer").

The film based on true accounts will tell the tumultuous, beautiful and tragic story of the world's greatest opera singer, relived and re-imagined during her final days in 1970s Paris.

The filmmaker's brother and creative partner Juan de Dios Larraín will produce for Fabula Pictures, alongside Lorenzo Mieli for The Apartment Pictures, a Fremantle Company, and Jonas Dornbach for Komlizen Film.

Larraín said the following:
"Having the chance to combine my two most deep and personal passions, cinema and opera, has been a long-awaited dream. To do this with Angelina, a supremely brave and curious artist, is a fascinating opportunity. A true gift.".

Jolie added:
"I take very seriously the responsibility to Maria’s life and legacy. I will give all I can to meet the challenge. Pablo Larraín is a director I have long admired. To be allowed the chance to tell more of Maria’s story with him, and with a script by Steven Knight, is a dream.".

DVD & Blu-ray: EMA (2019) Starring Mariana Di Girólamo & Gael García Bernal

Product Description: Adoptive parents Ema (Mariana Di Girolamo) and Gastón (Gael García Bernal) are artistic free spirits in an experimental dance troupe whose lives are thrown into chaos when their son Polo is involved in a shocking incident. As her marriage crumbles in the wake of their decision to abandon the child, Ema embarks on an odyssey of liberation and self-discovery as she dances and seduces her way into a daring new life. Centering on the sinuous, electrifying art of reggaeton dance, Ema is an incendiary portrait of an artistic temperament forced to contend with societal pressure and the urge to conform. From world-class director Pablo Larraín (Jackie, Neruda) comes another psychologically acute exhumation of Latin American life featuring an unforgettable heroine who is determined to move freely through the world as she electrifies everyone and everything around her.

Kristen Stewart to play Princess Diana in new Film SPENCER
Kristen Stewart is set to star as Diana, Princess of Wales, in the drama "Spencer" from Pablo Larrain, who also helmed the Oscar-nominated biopic "Jackie". The screenplay is penned by Steven Knight ("Peaky Blinders", "Eastern Promises"), and the film will be produced by Larrain along with Fabula partner Juan de Dios, Jonas Dornbach, Janine Jackowski and Paul Webster.

"Spencer" will cover a critical weekend in the early 1990s, when Diana decided her marriage to Prince Charles wasn’t working, and that she needed to veer from a path that put her in line to one day be queen. The drama takes place over three days, in one of her final Christmas holidays in the House of Windsor in their Sandringham estate in Norfolk, England.

The film will be unveiled to buyers at the virtual Cannes Market. Production is expected to begin in early 2021.

Larrain spoke about what interested him about this project:
"We all grew up, at least I did in my generation, reading and understanding what a fairy tale is. Usually, the prince comes and finds the princess, invites her to become his wife and eventually she becomes queen. That is the fairy tale. When someone decides not to be the queen, and says, I'd rather go and be myself, it’s a big big decision, a fairy tale upside down … that is the heart of the movie.".
