Jeremy Strong August Diehl Daniel Bruhl Gillian Anderson Netflix Series Boys From Brazil

Jeremy Strong ("Succession"), Gillian Anderson ("Sex Education", "The X-Files"), Daniel Brühl ("Rush", "Inglourious Basterds"), and August Diehl ("A Hidden Life") are set to star in the upcoming Netflix thriller series "The Boyd From Brazil" based on the novel of the same name by Ira Levin. The book was previously adapted into an Oscar-nominated 1978 film of the same name that starred Gregory Peck and Laurence Olivier.

Here is the official synopsis: "Set across three decades from the immediate aftermath of WW2 through the political turbulence of the 1970s, ‘The Boys from Brazil’ follows Holocaust survivor and Nazi hunter Yakov Liebermann (Strong), in his lifelong crusade to bring Nazi fugitives to justice, a crusade that has cost him nearly everything. When one of his young protégées undercover in Brazil learns of a shocking Nazi plan, Liebermann is in a race against time to expose an unimaginable truth: Doctor Johann-Friedrich Meinhardt (Diehl), a sadistic Nazi scientist he believed long dead, is alive and orchestrating a diabolical project to spark the rise of a Fourth Reich.".

The cast also includes Lizzy Caplan and Shira Haas. Brühl stars as Von Harteneck, while Anderson will play Frieda Steiner. Haas stars as Anna Koehler and Caplan stars as Hannah Liebermann.

Netflix has ordered five one-hour episodes. Production will begin in December in the UK, Germany, Bulgaria and Spain. The adaptation is penned by Peter Morgan ("The Crown"), who also executive produces alongside Suzanne Mackie for Orchid Pictures and Simon Heath for World Productions, part of ITV Studios, as well as Alex Gabassi, who will also direct. Oona O'Beirn and Andy Stebbing are producers.

Orchid Pictures' Suzanne Mackie said the following in a statement: "Building on his extraordinary work with 'The Crown', Peter continues to examine the political and emotional forces which, through the 20th century, have moulded the world we live in today. That he does so via the intimate human stories within the sweep of history makes his storytelling powerfully relatable. We're thrilled to have assembled such an exceptional team, both in front of and behind the camera and to be working with the super-talented director, Alex Gabassi again for this new limited series for Netflix. We can't wait to bring Peter Morgan's bold reimagining of Ira Levin's 'The Boys from Brazil' to the screen."

"Succession" and "The Apprentice" star Jeremy Strong has signed on to star in the Netflix series "The Boys From Brazil" based on Ira Levin Nazi's conspiracy novel. The show is created by Peter Morgan ("The Crown"), who also executive produces along with Suzanne Mackie of Orchid Pictures. It will be run through Netflix and Netflix UK.

Levin's novel was previously adapted into the 1978 film by Franklin J. Schaffner starring Gregory Peck, Laurence Olivier, James Mason, Lilli Palmer, Uta Hagen and Steve Guttenberg. The film was nominated for three Oscars, including Best Actor in a Leading Role (Olivier).

In the novel, Nazi hunter Yakov Liebermann receives a tip that the notorious Dr. Josef Mengele is alive and living under an assumed name in Brazil. Liebermann travels to the South American country to track down the so called "Angel of Death", only to discover a sinister conspiracy at work. Reportedly, Strong will play Liebermann.

Strong recently finished work on the Bruce Springsteen biopic "Deliver Me From Nowhere" in which he plays the artist's manager Jon Landau.

THE CROWN Casts Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana in Season 5 and 6
Elizabeth Debicki ("Tenet", "Widows") has signed on to star as Princess Diana in the upcoming fifth and sixth seasons of Netflix's "The Crown", taking over from Emma Corrin, who plays Diana on the show's fourth season.

In a statement, Debicki had this to say about the project:
"Princess Diana's spirit, her words and her actions live in the hearts of so many. It is my true privilege and honour to be joining this masterful series, which has had me absolutely hooked from Episode One."
According to "The Crown" creator Peter Morgan, the series will run for six seasons. It was originally reported in January that Season 5 would be its last. However, Morgan's vision had always been a six-season run. Morgan explained his reasons:
"As we started to discuss the storylines for Series 5, it soon became clear that in order to do justice to the richness and complexity of the story we should go back to the original plan and do six seasons. To be clear, Series 6 will not bring us any closer to present-day — it will simply enable us to cover the same period in greater detail."
Recently, Oscar-nominated actor Jonathan Pryce has been cast to play the Queen's husband, Prince Philip, in the final two seasons. Pryce will take over from Tobias Menzies who played him in the third and fourth seasons. The cast also includes Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth II and Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret.

"The Crown" will take a production hiatus, and filming on Season 5 is expected to begin next June.

Well, it's not really as exciting as it sounds in the title. I might have exaggerated a bit. Anthony Hopkins is in negotiations to star in the movie "Solace" and he will play a doctor with psychic abilities who is helping the FBI capture dangerous serial killers. It's disappointing in way, because I suppose we won't be seeing the menacing Hopkins that we love from movies like "Silence of the Lambs", "Fracture", or "The Rite". The script was originally penned by Sean Bailey and Ted Griffin ("Ocean's Eleven", "Matchstick Men") and subsequently rewritten by James Vanderbilt ("Zodiac") and Peter Morgan ("The Queen", "Hereafter"). I don't usually condone the rewrite process, but in this case, some big names have been assigned to it, so I'm going to look the other way just this once. "Solace" begins filming sometime next year and is expected to be released in 2014, so wait we shall.
