"Happy Death Day" is a darkly humorous horror film directed by Christopher Landon ("Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse") and produced by Jason Blum ("Split", "The Purge").
Jessica Rothe stars as Tree Gelbman, a college student who is forced to relive the day of her murder until she discovers her killer's identity. Israel Broussard, Ruby Modine, Rachel Matthews and Charles Aitken co-star.
"Happy Death Day" opened in theaters on October 13th, 2017 and received mixed-to-positive reviews from critics, who praised Rothe's breakthrough performance, but considered that its Groundhog Day concept doesn't always work as well as it should and it's also not terribly original. The film topped the charts in its opening weekend, grossing $26.5 million versus a budget of $4.8 million.
