Weekend Box-Office: SONGBIRDS AND SNAKES Dominates Thanksgiving Holiday and NAPOLEON Defeats Disney's WISH

"The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes" dominated its sophomore weekend and the extended Thanksgiving holiday frame. Ridley Scott's historical epic "Napoleon" scored a modest debut, but still managed to conquer Disney's struggling new animated feature "Wish".

THANKSGIVING (2023) - Trailers, Featurettes, Images and Posters

"Thanksgiving" is a slasher horror film directed by Eli Roth from a script by Jeff Rendell based on Roth's mock trailer of the same name featured in the 2007 film "Grindhouse". Other adaptations based on those mock trailers include "Machete", "Machete Kills" and "Hobo With a Shotgun". The cast includes Patrick Dempsey, Addison Rae, Milo Manheim, Jalen Thomas Brooks, Nell Verlaque, Rick Hoffman and Gina Gershon. The film opened in theaters on November 17, 2023.

Weekend Box-Office: BALLAD OF SONGBIRDS & SNAKES Opens With Lukewarm $44M While THE MARVELS Scores Worst MCU Second Weekend Drop

Three new wide releases battled it out over the weekend before Thanksgiving. The prequel "The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes" topped the charts, but fared worse than previous installments in the series. However, it wasn't a total disaster, either. Eli Roth's horror film "Thanksgiving" is a modest hit, and "Next Goal Wins" is not quite a winner.
