Weekend Box-Office: WONKA Tops New Year's Charts With $29.5 Million

Hollywood has reasons to celebrate as 2023 ended with a grand total of $9 billion at the North American box-office, an improvement on the $7.4 billion from 2022, but less than 2019's $11.4 billion. The holidays were pretty busy with lots of releases, including "Wonka", "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom", "Migration", "The Color Purple", "The Boys in the Boat", "Ferrari" and "Anyone But You". Of course, next year is going to be rough because the strikes have cut down most wide releases for at least the first half of 2024.
