Weekend Box Office: AVATAR 3 Holding At #1 As It Crosses $1 Billion Worldwide

Weekend Box Office Avatar Fire And Ash 1 Billion Milestone

In what is a surprise to no one, James Cameron's "Avatar: Fire and Ash" continues to dominate the box office in its third consecutive weekend. Unfortunately, the threequel is also having trouble keeping up the pace with its 2022 predecessor, "The Way of Water", falling short by around 30%. Meanwhile, "Zootopia 2" and "The Housemaid" are the holiday season's biggest surprises, showing incredible holding power. Unfortunately, the semi-wide release of Daisy Ridley's zombie horror flick "We Bury the Dead", got buried outside the Top 10.

Read more about the weekend box office after the jump.

"Avatar: Fire and Ash" is holding in first place for a third consecutive weekend with $41.4 million, down 34.3% from the previous frame. The film has now grossed a total of $307.6 million domestically, and another $779.8 million internationally, which all adds up to 1,087 billion worldwide against a $400+ million budget.

Disney's "Zootopia 2" is also doing great, holding in second place with $19.3 million, which is an incredible 2.5% drop from last week, despite losing 85 screens over the weekend. And keep in mind that the movie was released on November 26, 2025. Don't be surprised if "Zootopia 2" manages to end up grossing more than Cameron's "Avatar" threequel. The animated sequel has now grossed a total of $364 million in North America, and another $1.2 billion from foreign markets. That's a global total of $1.59 billion against a $150 million budget.

In third place we find Paul Feig's erotic thriller "The Housemaid", which climbed from #4 to #3 with 15.1 million. That's a fantastic 1.4% drop, but the movie also added another 28 theaters. The R-rated film's domestic total is now at $75.9 million, while overseas it adds another $16.6 million for a global cume of $92.5 million against a $35 million budget.

The Timothee Chalamet starrer "Marty Supreme" is another surprise hit, finishing its third weekend in fourth place with $12.5 million, down only 20.5%. This brings its domestic tally to $56 million. Overseas it adds another $2.4 million. The film's production budget is estimated at around $70 million

The Top 5 is rounded out by the PG-13 horror comedy "Anaconda" with $10 million, a 25.2% decline in its second weekend. The film has now grossed a total of $45.8 million domestically and $42.5 million from overseas markets, which adds up to a total of $88.3 million against a $45 million production budget.

In other news, the horror film "We Bury the Dead" starring Daisy Ridley opened at #11 with $2.5 million from 1,172 theaters. The film received a positive reception from critics (82% on Rotten Tomatoes)
