Weekend Box Office: AVATAR 3 Holding At #1 As It Crosses $1 Billion Worldwide

In what is a surprise to no one, James Cameron's "Avatar: Fire and Ash" continues to dominate the box office in its third consecutive weekend. Unfortunately, the threequel is also having trouble keeping up the pace with its 2022 predecessor, "The Way of Water", falling short by around 30%. Meanwhile, "Zootopia 2" and "The Housemaid" are the holiday season's biggest surprises, showing incredible holding power. Unfortunately, the semi-wide release of Daisy Ridley's zombie horror flick "We Bury the Dead", got buried outside the Top 10.

Weekend Box Office: AVATAR 3 Effortlessly Dominates Christmas Frame With $63 Million

At the end of 2025, "Avatar: Fire and Ash" continues to dominate, easily towering above newcomers over the Christmas holiday. Last week's new releases also performed well, but "Zootopia 2" pulled off a Christmas miracle and climbed back to second place. "Marty Supreme" expanded nationwide with an explosive performance, while the newly released "Anaconda" starring Jack Black and Paul Rudd, and the music biopic "Song Sung Blue" starring Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson struggled to find their audience.

"Anaconda" is a horror action comedy directed by Tom Gormican ("The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent") from a script he co-wrote alongside Kevin Etten. The film is a meta-reboot of the 1997 cult classic "Anaconda", and it stars Paul Rudd, Jack Black, Steve Zahn, Thandiwe Newton, Daniela Melchior and Selton Mello. It opened in theaters on December 25, 2025.

Product Description: A documentary film crew headed by anthropologist Steve Cale (Eric Stoltz) and director Terri Flores (Jennifer Lopez) travel down the Amazon River in search of a mysterious Indian tribe. He offers to help in their search for the tribe, but he is actually a snake-hunter looking for the legendary Anaconda snake.
