"Ben is Back" is a drama written and directed by Peter Hedges ("Pieces of April", "What's Eating Gilbert Grape") that stars his son, Lucas Hedges, as a drug addicted teenager who unexpectedly returns home to his family's suburban home on Christmas Eve morning. Julia Roberts co-stars as the boy's mother, whose love is tested as she does everything in her power to keep him safe. The film also stars Kathryn Newton, Alexandra Park, Courtney B. Vance and Michael Esper.

"Ben is Back" premiered at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival and received a limited release in theaters on December 7, 2018. The film has received generally positive reviews from critics.
