mother-2017-trailers-clips-featurette-images-and-posters

"Mother!" is a psychological horror film written and directed by Darren Aronofsky ("Black Swan"). The film's plot would generally be described as following a couple, played by Jennifer Lawrence and Javier Bardem, whose relationship is strained by the arrival of uninvited guests at their home, followed by events that disrupt their tranquil existence.

The narrative, however, should actually be interpreted as an allegory. Aronofsky describes the film as using a "a dream-logic narrative" and that it's a "psychological freak-out" that shouldn't be over-explained. This has led to some controversy as audiences were left confused, especially since the film's marketing has been misleading.

All this resulted in a rare CinemaScore "F" grade from moviegoers and a weak $7.5 million debut. Critics were also somewhat divided on the film's merits. Some praised the director's thought-provoking vision and artistic integrity, while others considered it too outlandish and pretentious.

Paramount chose to release a public statement defending the film: "This movie is very audacious and brave. You are talking about a director at the top of his game, and an actress at the top her game. They made a movie that was intended to be bold. Everyone wants original filmmaking, and everyone celebrates Netflix when they tell a story no one else wants to tell. This is our version. We don’t want all movies to be safe. And it’s okay if some people don’t like it."

The film also stars Michelle Pfeiffer, Ed Harris, Domhnall Gleeson, Brian Gleeson, Kristen Wiig, Jovan Adepo and Stephen McHattie.

"Mother!" opened in theaters on September 15th, 2017.

The film is produced by Darren Aronosfsky ("Black Swan") and written by Javier Gullón ("Enemy"). Maggie Grace, Kevin Zegers, Hannah Ware and Martin Donovan co-star.

Jennifer Lawrence quits The Rosie Project, in talks for Darren Aronofsky film
It seems that Sony's "The Rosie Project" has just hit one masssive roadblock. The romantic dramedy was developed as a vehicle for "The Hunger Games" star Jennifer Lawrence, with "Boyhood" helmer Richard Linklater set to direct. Now, both Lawrence and Linklater have departed the project for unspecified reasons. The actress has just finished work on "X-Men: Apocalypse" and is currently filming the sci-fi drama "Passengers". "The Rosie Project" was set to begin production this winter.

However, Jennifer Lawrence is now in talks to star in Darren Aronofsky's next film. There is no information on what this project would be, but it's nevertheless an interesting pairing for what looks to be an indie project. Despite all the secrecy, sources say that the film is expected to start filming this spring.

Lawrence can be seen this year in the final chapter of the "Hunger Games" saga, "Mockingjay Part 2", and the biopic "Joy", her third project with director David O. Russell.

noah-movie-box-office

Despite some initial controversy, Darren Aronofsky's Biblical epic "Noah" exploded at No. 1 with $44 million, beyond all expectations. The film, starring Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly and Emma Watson, also performed well overseas, grossing and additional $51 million in three days. This is the biggest opening weekend performance for both Crowe and Aronofsky.

Second place was occupied by the young-adult sci-fi adventure "Divergent" starring Shailene Woodley and Theo James, which grossed $26 million, holding strong against fierce competition. The film is now very close to the $100 million mark.

The Arnold Schwarzenegger starrer "Sabotage" is officially a flop. The action thriller directed by David Ayer ("End of Watch") grossed only $5 million, despite a flashy marketing campaign and a star-studded cast. This is especially bad news for Schwarzenegger whose post-governor films have all flopped. In fact, "Sabotage" scored the worst opening weekend for the actor, behind "The Last Stand" ($6.2 million) and "Escape Plan" ($9.2 million).

In other box-office news, "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" made its overseas debut and scored $75 million, a very solid foundation for when the movie will open in U.S. theaters next week (April 4th). And, Disney's "Frozen" has become the highest grossing animated film of all time with a worldwide cume of $1.072 billion, surpassing "Toy Story 3" ($1.063 billion). Furthermore, the film is now also on the top 10 list of biggest films of all time.

A new trailer and an exclusive clip have been released for Darren Aronofsky's Biblical epic "Noah". Some early reviews have been appearing online, most of them quite positive, which descrbed the film as a fantasy epic with phylosophical depths that will prove to be as divisive as Aronofsky's "The Fountain". Since I absolutely loved "The Fountain", this is great news for me. The film stars Russell Crowe, Emma Watson, Jennifer Connelly, Logan Lerman, Ray Winstone, Douglas Booth, Kevin Durand, Martin Csokas, Mark Margolis and Anthony Hopkins.

"Noah" opens on March 28, 2014.

The film stars Russell Crowe, Emma Watson, Jennifer Connelly, Logan Lerman, Ray Winstone, Douglas Booth, Kevin Durand, Martin Csokas, Mark Margolis and Anthony Hopkins. For a while now there have been rumors that the studios have been trying to get Aronofsky to change the film's final cut against his will, but now it seems that he will be allowed to deliver the director's cut he desires.

"Noah" opens on March 27, 2014.

noah-2014-russell-crowe

The first trailers and poster for Darren Aronofsky's biblical epic "Noah" have been released. There are actually two trailers, the official trailer and the international version. As expected, it's an impressive looking film that will probably feature some wonderful performances from its great cast. The scope is very ambitious and if it gets everything right, it could become an instant classic and an example for future biblical flicks.

The film stars Russell Crowe, Emma Watson, Jennifer Connelly, Logan Lerman, Ray Winstone, Douglas Booth, Kevin Durand, Martin Csokas, Mark Margolis and Anthony Hopkins.

On a side note, I couldn't help but think about "Troy" while watching these trailers. I hope that Aronofsky has succeeded in avoiding the trappings of such expensive Hollywood productions which sometimes forget about the human element amidst all the visual effects and epic battles, especially since there have been rumors that Aronofsky is having trouble with the studio regarding the final cut of the film. I'm betting that the studio wants more action, while Aronofsky is looking to achieve something deep and meaningful with this film.

"Noah" opens on March 28, 2014.

The film is currently in production and stars Russel Crowe as the title character, Emma Watson, Jennifer Connelly, Logan Lerman, Douglas Booth, Ray Winstone, Anthony Hopkins, Kevin Durand and Mark Margolis. I had no idea they were making "Scary Movie 5" until now, and I didn't really care to know, either. The quality of parody filmmaking these days has dropped to abyssal depths. Long gone are the days of Mel Brooks' cheeky parodies. Although the first two "Scary Movies" sparked some interest in the sub-genre, it wasn't long before they ran out of good jokes. Which is why, the fifth installment will give us a truly "scary" opening sequence, featuring Hollywood's most outrageous (and over-publicized) celebrities : Charlie Sheen and Lindsay Lohan. The scene apparently contains a sex scene between the two and the producers describe it as "outrageous, sexy and hilarious".

"Scary Movie 5" is directed by Malcom D. Lee ("Undercover Brother") and stars Ashley Tisdale, Molly Shannon, Kate Walsh and J.P. Manoux. The release date is set for April 19, 2013. Here is the official synopsis :
"Snooty, aloof, imperious, and oversexed French dance company director Pierre is putting on a new production. Jody, a Caucasian late-20s mother of two and her late-20s African American friend Kendra are both vying for the lead in the production. Jody's extremely controlling former dancer mother is determined that Jody will have the brilliant career that eluded her. The highly skilled mid-30s Diva veteran dancer with the company, Heather Daltry, gets cut from the production and goes berserk."

  • assassin's creed videogame
After the fan-upsetting dificulties that Ubisoft encountered on the videogame adaptation "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time" and the repeated negotiation breakdowns with the big Hollywood studios, they decided to finance their future movies independently. As a direct consequence of this decision, the big-screen version of the acclaimed "Assassin's Creed" franchise is finally moving forward. Not only that, but Michael Fassbender ("Prometheus", "Shame") will star in and co-produce the movie. If all goes well, we might actually get the first ever good/great videogame adaptation.

  • the hunger games jennifer lawrence
"The Hunger Games", based on Suzanne Collins' trilogy of novels, is certainly one of the big hits of 2012, reason enough for Lionsgate to move quickly on the sequels. Not only that, but the studio has already announced the release dates for all the sequels. The second installment, called "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" is set for release on November 22, 2013 and will be directed by Francis Lawrence ("Constantine", "I Am Legend"). The third of the novels will become two separate movies : "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1" and "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2" and will be released in theaters on November 21st, 2014 and November 20th, 2015 respectively. It is unknown at this time if Lawrence will also direct the final two movies. And, Lionsgate has officially confirmed that Philip Seymour Hoffman was offered and has accepted the role of Plutarch Heavensbee and Jena Malone will play Joanna Mason in "Catching Fire". Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Woody Harrelson will reprise their roles.

  • I did not believe Dan Aykroyd when he stated last week that they're looking for a new team of writers for "Ghostbusters 3" and that the project is definitely moving forward. I was wrong. It seems that "Men in Black 3" screenwriter Etan Cohen has been hired to rewrite an already existing script written by Lee Eisenberg & Gene Stupnitsky ("Bad Teacher"). We'll see how thing evolve, but I'm still skeptical about this sequel.

  • anthony hopkins photo
Anthony Hopkins has joined Darren Aronofsky's biblical epic "Noah". Hopkins will be playing Methuselah, Noah's grandfather, who was no less than 969 years old at the time of his death, seven days before the flood. As previously reported, "Noah" stars Russel Crowe, as the titular character, Jennifer Connelly, Ray Winstone, Emma Watson, Logan Lerman and Douglas Booth.
