A History Of Violence 2005 New On Bluray And 4k Criterion Collection

Product Description: In David Cronenberg’s subtly provocative film, one of his most celebrated, all is not as it initially seems. In his first of many collaborations with the director, Viggo Mortensen delivers a highly nuanced performance as Tom Stall, a small-town husband and father who is hailed as a hero when he kills the would-be perpetrators of a violent robbery. But how did this ordinary family man dispatch them with such skill? Working with an exceptional cast that also includes Maria Bello, Ed Harris, and William Hurt, Cronenberg slyly deconstructs the mythos of the American action hero, posing elemental questions about identity, human nature, and the violence that we both abhor and can’t look away from.

The Shrouds 2024 New On Dvd And Bluray

Product Description: Long fascinated by the ways technology is transforming our bodies and minds, David Cronenberg returns with one of his most personal films, an audacious, elegiac exploration of grief, mortality, and love wrapped in the guise of a corporate-espionage thriller. Karsh (Vincent Cassel) is the enigmatic entrepreneur behind a new tech package that allows bereaved relatives to view their loved ones’ decomposing remains. When his futuristic cemetery is vandalized, he begins to suspect a conspiracy is at work, forcing him to confront the trauma of—and mystery surrounding—the death of his beloved Becca (Diane Kruger). Conceived in the wake of his own wife’s death, The Shrouds finds Cronenberg exploring heady ideas around sex, surveillance, and the ultimate body horror: the physical decay that awaits us all.

Viggo Mortensen Kristen Stewart Lea Seydoux In David Cronenbergs New Movie

David Cronenberg's new directorial project "Crimes of the Future" has gathered quite an impressive cast which will be led by Viggo Mortensen, Léa Seydoux and Kristen Stewart are set to lead. Scott Speedman, Welket Bungué, Don McKellar and Lihi Kornowski (Apple TV's "Losing Alice") are also set to star.. Mortensen and Cronenberg have previously worked together on "A History of Violence" and "Eastern Promises".

The film is Cronenberg's first original screenplay since 1999's "EXistenZ", and it's a deep dive into the not-so-distant future where humankind is learning to adapt to its synthetic surroundings. This evolution moves humans beyond their natural state and into a metamorphosis, altering their biological makeup. While some embrace the limitless potential of trans-humanism, others attempt to police it. Either way, "Accelerated Evolution Syndrome" is spreading fast.

The story follows Saul Tenser (Mortensen), a beloved performance artist who has embraced Accelerated Evolution Syndrome, sprouting new and unexpected organs in his body. Along with his partner Caprice, Tenser has turned the removal of these organs into a spectacle for his loyal followers to marvel at in real-time theatre. But with both the government and a strange subculture taking note, Tenser is forced to consider what would be his most shocking performance of all.

Cronenberg will also reunite with producer Robert Lantos, his longtime production designer Carol Spier ("Crash", "Dead Ringers") and three-time Academy Award-winning composer Howard Shore ("A History of Violence").

crash-1996-criterion-collection-new-on-dvd-and-bluray

Product Description: For this icily erotic fusion of flesh and machine, David Cronenberg adapted J. G. Ballard’s future-shock novel of the 1970s into one of the most singular and provocative films of the 1990s. A traffic collision involving a disaffected commercial producer, James (James Spader), and an enigmatic doctor, Helen (Holly Hunter), brings them, along with James’s wife, Catherine (Deborah Kara Unger, in a sublimely detached performance), together in a crucible of blood and broken glass—and it’s not long before they are all initiated into a kinky, death-obsessed underworld of sadomasochistic car-crash fetishists for whom twisted metal and scar tissue are the ultimate turn-ons.

Controversial from the moment it premiered at Cannes—where it won a Special Jury Prize “for originality, for daring, and for audacity”—Crash has since taken its place as a key text of late-twentieth-century cinema, a disturbingly seductive treatise on the relationships between humanity and technology, sex and violence, that is as unsettling as it is mesmerizing.
