New on Blu-ray: LYNCH/OZ (2022) - Documentary

BUY FROM AMAZON

Product Description: The themes, images, and cultural vernacular of Victor Fleming’s The Wizard of Oz continue to haunt David Lynch’s filmography—from his early short The Alphabet to his recent television series Twin Peaks: The Return. Arguably, no filmmaker has so consistently drawn inspiration—consciously or unconsciously—from a single work. Is Lynch trapped in the Land of Oz? If so, what can we learn about his body of work by taking a closer look at how it intersects and communicates with that legendary fantasy? In turn, what do Lynch’s films have to say about the enduring resonance of one of America’s most beloved classics? Through six distinct perspectives, Alexandre O. Philippe’s Lynch/Oz helps us reexperience and reinterpret The Wizard of Oz by way of David Lynch, delivering new appreciations of both.

Filmmaker David Lynch Joins Cast of Steven Spielberg's THE FABELMANS

Four-time Oscar nominee and Nine-time Emmy nominee David Lynch ("Twin Peaks", "Blue Velvet") has joined the cast of Steven Spielberg's semi-autobiographical project "The Fabelmens", which is loosely based on Spielberg's time growing up in Arizona. Spielberg co-wrote the script alongside Tony Kushner ("Munich", "West Side Story").

Plot details are being kept under wraps, and details about Lynch's role are also unknown at this point. The cast also includeds Michelle Williams, Seth Rogen, Paul Dano, Gabriel LaBelle, Chloe East, Oakes Fegley, Isabelle Kusman, Julia Butters and Sam Rechner. Dano is playing a character based on Spielberg's father, with Williams playing a version of his mother, and Rogen playing a version of his uncle.

The film will be released in theaters on November 23, 2022.

This is Lynch's first collaboration with Spielberg. He has also appeared as an actor in the original "Twin Peaks" series and its 2017 revival, as well as in many of his own films. He also had guest appearances on "Louie" and "The Cleveland Show".

Blu-ray & 4K Ultra HD: DUNE (1984) - Limited Edition

BUY FROM AMAZON

Product Description: Following a notorious aborted attempt by Alejandro Jodorowsky in the 1970s, Frank Herbert’s bestselling sci-fi epic Dune finally made it to the big screen as the third film by emerging surrealist wunderkind David Lynch, featuring an all-star cast that includes several of Lynch’s regular collaborators. The year is 10,191, and four planets are embroiled in a secret plot to wrest control of the Spice Melange, the most precious substance in the universe and found only on the planet Arrakis. A feud between two powerful dynasties, House Atreides and House Harkonnen, is manipulated from afar by ruling powers that conspire to keep their grip on the spice. As the two families clash on Arrakis, Duke Atreides’ son Paul (Kyle MacLachlan, in his screen debut) finds himself at the center of an intergalactic war and an ancient prophecy that could change the galaxy forever. Though its initial reception ensured that Lynch largely eschewed mainstream filmmaking for the rest of his career, Dune has since been rightly re-evaluated as one of the most startlingly original and visionary science fiction films of the 1980s. Its astonishing production design and visual effects can now be appreciated anew in this spellbinding 4K restoration, accompanied by hours of comprehensive bonus features.

Naomi Watts and Tom Sizemore Join TWIN PEAKS Revival

Showtime's "Twin Peaks" reboot was off to a rough start last year with a lot of uncertainty surrounding David Lynch's involvement, but now things do seem to have cleared up a bit. A clear sign that things are moving forward at a steady pace is the announcement that Naomi Watts ("Mulholland Drive") and Tom Sizemore ("Black Hawk Down") have joined the show. The cast already includes "Twin Peaks" veteran Kyle MacLachlan as Agent Dale Cooper, as well as (relatively unconfirmed) Laura Dern, Balthazar Getty, Peter Sarsgaard, Amanda Seyfried, Sheryl Lee, Jennifer Jason Leigh, James Belushi, Robert Forster and Mädchen Amick. Lynch is also rumored to be reprising his recurring role from the original series as FBI Regional Bureau Chief Gordon Cole. The 18-episode revival season doesn't have an exact premiere date, but it's expected to arrive in 2017.
