Weekend Box-Office: CANDYMAN Scares Up Solid $22.3 Million Debut

Weekend Box-Office: FREE GUY Opens at #1 With Strong $28.4 Million

The Ryan Reynolds starrer "Free Guy" dominated the weekend box-office with a stronger than expected debut. Meanwhile, the horror sequel "Don't Breathe 2" and the Aretha Franklin biopic "Respect" also proved strong enough to topple the likes of "Jungle Cruise" and "The Suicide Squad".

"Don't Breathe 2" is a horror thriller directed by Rodo Sayagues from a script he co-wrote with Fede Alvarez. Produced by Alvarez, Sam Raimi and Robert Tapert, the film is a sequel to the 2016 film "Don't Breathe", and it stars Stephen Lang, Brendan Sexton III, Madelyn Grace, Stephanie Arcila and Rocci Williams.

"Don't Breathe 2" opened in theaters on August 13, 2021.

• The animated sequel "Hotel Transylvania: Transformania". Adam Sandler did not reprise the voice of Dracula, and voice actor Brian Hull has taken over the role. The returning voice cast members include Selena Gomez, Kathryn Hahn, Keegan-Michael Key, Steve Buscemi and David Spade.
