"First Reformed" is a drama written and directed by Paul Schrader ("Taxi Driver, Raging Bull"), that tells the story of a middle-aged former military chaplain (Ethan Hawke), struggling with the death of his son, who is plunged into his own tormented past when he meets Mary (Amanda Seyfried), a member of his church whose husband, a radical environmentalist, commited suicide.

"First Reformed" was screened in the main competition of the 74th Venice International Film Festival, and was also release in select theaters on May 18, 2018. The film received almost unanimous praise from critics.
