Weekend Box-Office: FROZEN 2 Threepeats at #1 While PLAYMOBIL Tanks

Disney scored a third consecutive #1 weekend at the box-office with "Frozen II", which is now very close to the billion mark. Most of the other films performed well this weekend, without any spectacular standouts. Well, you could say one film stood out, but not in a good way. STX's release of the long-delayed "Playmobil" movie bombed in a big way.

Weekend Box-Office: FROZEN 2 Dominates Thanksgiving and Breaks New Records

The Thanksgiving box-office was as bountiful as could be expected, with "Frozen II" breaking more records and newcomers "Knives Out" and "Queen & Slim" overperforming as they successfully provided adult counter-programming to Disney's behemoth. Overall, while the box-office was down 7% before the holiday, after the strong five-day performance it is now down only 5.6% from the same point last year.

Disney scored another huge hit with their latest animated film "Frozen II" and also broke a couple of records as well. The other new releases, the biopic "A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood" and the action thriller "21 Bridges" struggled, but still managed to debut within expectations.

Weekend Box-Office: FORD V FERRARI Races to #1 as CHARLIE'S ANGELS Crashes and Burns

The sports biopic "Ford v Ferrari" achieved a rare performance this weekend at the box-office, surpassing expectations to claim the top spot, while the "Charlie's Angels" reboot crashed and burned in the worst way possible. Also, Warner Bros' "The Good Liar" didn't make the Top 5, but that was generally expected.

In Theaters: FORD V FERRARI, CHARLIE'S ANGELS, THE GOOD LIAR, WAVES and THE REPORT

Fox's "Ford v Ferrari" is revving up to win the box-office race this weekend as the biopic has raked in a solid $2.1 million from Thursday evening previews. Starring Christian Bale and Matt Damon, the awards hopeful is on track to gross as much as $30 million from 3,528 theaters in its opening weekend.

Another big profile release is the "Charlie's Angels" reboot directed by Elizabeth Banks and starring Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott and Ella Balinska. The film only delivered $900,000 from previews, and could end up with less than $10 million from 3,452 theaters over the weekend.

Meanwhile, New Line/Bron's thriller "The Good Liar" starring Ian McKellen and Helen Mirren opened in 2,439 theaters and looks like it will tank at the box-office with the studio expecting a $5 million debut.

In limited release it might be worth checking out the dramas "Waves" starring Sterling K. Brown, and "The Report" starring Adam Driver, Annette Bening and Jon Hamm

"Ford v Ferrari" (also known as "Le Mans '66"), is a biographical sports drama directed by James Mangold ("Logan", "Walk the Line") from a script by Jez Butterworth ("Black Mass", "Edge of Tomorrow"), John-Henry Butterworth ("Get On Up"), and Jason Keller ("Escape Plane").

The film chronicles the efforts of American car designer Carroll Shelby (Matt Damon) and driver Ken Miles (Christian Bale) who battled corporate interference, the laws of physics, and their own personal demons to build the Ford GT40, a new racing car with the potential to finally defeat the perennially dominant Ferrari racing team at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans race in France. Jon Bernthal, Caitriona Balfe, Jon Bernthal, Tracy Letts and Josh Lucas co-star.

"Ford v Ferrari" opened in theaters on November 15, 2019.
