Girls Town 1996 New On Bluray

Product Description: Mid-1990s, New York City. Patti, Angela, Emma and Nikki are high school seniors and best friends preparing for life beyond graduation. Their dreams for the future differ greatly – Angela wants to become a poet, Emma and Nikki have are heading for college, and Patti is a young mother looking for stability in her kid’s life – but the four bright, young women are steadfastly loyal to each other in a way only teenagers know how to be. Their lives are then completely upended when, after being sexually assaulted, Nikki unexpectedly commits suicide. Grieving, angry and forced to return to daily life without satisfying recourse for their feelings, the girls must come of age with a newfound understanding about the patriarchal world in which they live.

Led by Lili Taylor, Bruklin Harris, Anna Grace and recent Academy Award-nominee Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor (KING RICHARD), the 1996 award-winning Sundance indie was co-written by the actors in collaboration with first-time filmmaker Jim McKay, lending “a welcome little gust of teen-age realism” (The New York Times) to the film’s coming-of-age narrative. One of the first films of its kind to frankly address sexual violence as women experience it, GIRLS TOWN continues to be relevant in a post-#MeToo world. An energetic, all-female soundtrack featuring 1990s musical icons Queen Latifah, PJ Harvey, Roxanne Shante, Salt-N-Pepa and others underscore the films timeless message of empowerment.

The 4K restoration by IndieCollect was funded with support from the HFPA Trust, Donald A. Pels Charitable Trust, IndieCollect donors, and Fellow Citizen, Inc.

Party Girl 1995 New On Bluray

Product Description: What's a fast-talking, under-employed New York free spirit to do when she's jailed for throwing an illegal house party? Mary (Parker Posey, Dazed and Confused and The House of Yes) cajoles her librarian godmother (Sasha von Scherler, Network) into bailing her out and giving her a job as a clerk at the public library. What follows is Mary's screwball-like journey from a life of late nights and hangovers to romance with a falafel vendor (Omar Townsend) and a potential long-term career as a librarian. Daisy von Scherler Mayer's Party Girl is a charming and energetic throwback to '30s and '40s comedies, set amidst the thriving and vibrant club culture of '90s Lower Manhattan. Parker Posey became "the new queen of the art house" (Michael Musto, Vanity Fair) with her hilarious and captivating lead performance in what has become one of the most iconic characters and films of the '90s indie filmmaking boom. Supporting her are Guillermo Diaz (Scandal), Liev Schreiber (Ray Donovan), Donna Mitchell (The Ice Storm) and Anthony DeSando (Kiss Me, Guido). In addition to it's witty and quotable screenplay by von Scherler Mayer and Harry Birckmayer, Party Girl is rightfully beloved for it's stacked soundtrack, which includes Tom Tom Club, Run-DMC, Deee-lite, Carl Craig and Ultra-Naté, as well as Mary's stacked wardrobe, which includes pieces by Vivienne Westwood, Todd Oldham, Jean Paul Gaultier and Chanel. Party Girl had it's finger on the pulse when released in 1995 and, decades later, it's revered as a loving and effervescent cinematic record of a very special time and place in New York City's history. Previously only available in aged standard definition masters, Party Girl has now been restored in 4K from it's original 16mm camera negative.
