WWE Superstar Drew McIntyre to Star in HIGHLANDER Reboot
Scottish professional wrestler and two-time WWE champion Drew McIntyre ("The Killer's Game") has joined the cast of Amazon MGM Studios and United Artists' "Highlander" reboot directed by Chad Stahelski ("John Wick"). Michael Finch ("Predators", "John Wick: Chapter 4") penned the screenplay based on the original 1986 film of the same name, which starred Christopher Lambert as Connor MacLeod. The protagonist is now played by Henry Cavill.

McIntyre will star opposite Cavill as his character MacLeod's brother Angus MacLeod. The cast also includes Russell Crowe, Marisa Abela, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, Max Zhang and Dave Bautista.

Since its release, "Highlander" has received multiple sequels and a popular TV series of the same name that premiered in 1992 starring Adrian Paul. The new project started pre-production earlier this month, but had to delay everything when Cavill was injured during training. Production is expected to begin in early 2026.

UA's Scott Stuber and Nick Nesbitt will produce alongside Neal H. Moritz; 87Eleven Entertainment, Stahelski's production banner; Josh Davis of Davis Panzer Productions; and Louise Rosner. UA secured full rights to the 1986 original, with the potential to also develop a new series. Lionsgate developed the film.

Russell Crowe Joins Henry Cavill In Highlander Remake

Oscar winner Russell Crowe ("Gladiator", "Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World") has signed on to star in the upcoming "Highlander" remake. The film stars Henry Cavill in the lead role, and Crowe will embody the mentor role played by Sean Connery in the 1986 original film.

The remake is directed by Chad Stahelski ("John Wick") from a script by Michael Finch ("John Wick: Chapter 4"), and it's produced by Amazon MGM Studios and United Artists. The latter has secured full rights to the 1986 original, which Lionsgate developed, with potential to also develop a new series.

UA's Scott Stuber and Nick Nesbitt will produce "Highlander" alongside Neal H. Moritz, 87Eleven Entertainment, Stahelski's production banner, Josh Davis of Davis Panzer Productions, and Louise Rosner.

Crowe is also set to star as Hermann Göring, one of the most powerful figures in the Nazi Party, in James Vanderbilt's "Nuremberg", and he recently finished work on Netflix's Unabomber biopic "Unabom", the Cold War thriller "Billion Dollar Spy", and the action thriller "Bear Country".

Henry Cavill To Star In Voltron Movie

"Man of Steel" and "The Witcher" star Henry Cavill is set to star in Amazon MGM Studios' upcoming live-action "Voltron" movie. The film will be directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber ("We're the Millers", "Dodgeball") from a script he co-wrote alongside Ellen Shanman.

Cavill joins Daniel Quinn-Toye, best known for his West End work opposite Tom Holland. Plot details are being kept under wraps for now. The "Voltron" TV franchise follows a team of space explorers who pilot a giant super robot, and was adapted from the Japanese sci-fi anime series "Beast King GoLion" and "Kikou Kantai Dairugger XV" by Toei Animation. It spawned several American series including Netflix's eight-season "Voltron: Legendary Defender".

Producers include Todd Lieberman via Hidden Pictures, Bob Koplar, Thurber and Hobie Films' David Hoberman.

Cavill is also set to star in Chad Stahelski's "Highlander" reboot, and Guy Ritchie's action thriller "In the Grey", which also stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Eiza Gonzalez. He will also executive produce the "Warhammer 40,000" franchise across all Amazon MGM Studios productions.

Henry Cavill to Star in and Executive Produce WARHAMMER 40K Film & TV Franchise for Amazon
Henry Cavill will star in and executive produce the "Warhammer 40,000" franchise for Amazon Studios, which has officially secured the global rights to the popular tabletop game from Games Workshop. Possible projects in this franchise include TV shows, movies, video games and animation.

Cavill had this to say about the project: "I have loved Warhammer since I was a boy, making this moment truly special for me. The opportunity to shepherd this cinematic universe from its inception is quite the honor and the responsibility. I couldn’t be more grateful for all the hard work put in by Vertigo, Amazon Studios and Games Workshop to make this happen. One step closer to making a nigh on lifelong dream come true.".

"Warhammer 40K" is set in the far future, where humanity stands at the edge of what might be its brightest future, or its darkest age. The threats to humankind's empire are many: traitors driven by the fires of ambition, alien empires sworn to reclaim the stars and the corruption of reality by malevolent gods.

Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon and MGM Studios, said the following: "Warhammer 40,000 has captured the imagination of fans of all ages, from all walks of life, and all over the world. Big news from DC bosses Peter Safran and James Gunn. It seems that their first project since taking over the task of fixing the DC cinematic universe will be a new "Superman" movie. A script is currently being written by Gunn, and the film will deal with the Man of Steel's early days.

The movie will not be an origin story, and Henry Cavill will not reprise his role. Cavill himself confirmed the news saying that "My turn to wear the cape has passed.". He further detailed the news on his Instagram account:

Meanwhile, Gunn hasn't exactly ruled out working with Cavill in the future. Here are the complete tweets sent out by Gunn about the project:
"Peter and I have a DC slate ready to go, which we couldn’t be more over-the-moon about; we’ll be able to share some exciting information about our first projects at the beginning of the new year."

"Among those on the slate is Superman. In the initial stages, our story will be focusing on an earlier part of Superman’s life, so the character will not be played by Henry Cavill."

"But we just had a great meeting with Henry and we’re big fans and we talked about a number of exciting possibilities to work together in the future".

It is also being reported that Gunn and Safran are in talks with Ben Affleck to stay in the DC family as a director, however "no deal is in place for him to helm a DC feature at this stage". In the meantime, Affleck will reprise his Batman role in "The Flash", which will open in theaters on June 16, 2023.

Gunn and Safran plan to unveil their full DC plan in January but are taking meetings with various talent connected to the universe to share their vision as they sort out a more cohesive plan for the comic-book brand stretching across all mediums.

Henry Cavill Exits The Witcher Season 4
Netflix has announced that Henry Cavill will not return for the fourth season of the fantasy series "The Witcher". The role of Geralt of Rivia will be taken over by Liam Hemsworth ("The Hunger Games"). The news follows the reveal that Cavill will return to the DC movie series as Superman, which was teased with a mid-credits cameo in the recently released "Black Adam".

In a statement, Cavill said the following: "My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for Season 4. In my stead, the fantastic Mr Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf. As with the greatest of literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for the time spent embodying Geralt and enthusiasm to see Liam's take on this most fascinating and nuanced of men."

Hemsworth had this to say: "As a Witcher fan I'm over the moon about the opportunity to play Geralt of Rivia. Henry Cavill has been an incredible Geralt, and I'm honoured that he's handing me the reins and allowing me to take up the White Wolf's blades for the next chapter of his adventure. Henry, I've been a fan of yours for years and was inspired by what you brought to this beloved character. I may have some big boots to fill, but I'm truly excited to be stepping into The Witcher world.".

The third season of "The Witcher" will debut in summer 2023. In the meantime, a four-episode prequel series titled "The Witcher: Blood Origin" starring Sophia Brown, Michelle Yeoh and Laurence O’Fuarain will premiere on December 25, 2022 on Netflix.

Cavill can next be seen in the Netflix sequel "Enola Holmes 2" alongside Millie Bobby Brown.

Henry Cavill Bryce Dallas Howard Dua Lipa Argylle

An all-star cast has been assembled for the spy thriller "Argylle", the new film from "Kick-Ass" and "Kingsman" helmer Matthew Vaughn.

Henry Cavill, Bryce Dallas Howard, Samuel L. Jackson, Sam Rockwell, Bryan Cranston, Catherine O'Hara, John Cena and pop star Dua Lipa have all signed on to star in the film, which is expected to begin filming this August in Europe. This will be Lipa's first film role, and she will also provide original music for the title track and score.

"Argylle" is based on the upcoming debut novel of the same name by first-time author Ellie Conway. The story will follow the globe-trotting adventures of a super-spy named Argylle across the U.S., London and other exotic locations. The adaptation is penned by Jason Fuchs ("Wonder Woman".

Vaughn has nothing but great things to say about the project:
"When I read this early draft manuscript I felt it was the most incredible and original spy franchise since Ian Fleming's books of the '50s. This is going to reinvent the spy genre."

Henry Cavill To Star in Lionsgate's HIGHLANDER Reboot
Man of Steel" and "The Witcher" star Henry Cavill is in talks for one of the lead roles in Lionsgate's reboot of "Highlander" that will be directed by Chad Stahelski ("John Wick"). The latest draft of the script is penned by Kerry Williamson ("What Happened to Monday", "Alex Cross").

The original 1986 film starred Christopher Lambert, Sean Connery and Clancy Brown as immortal beings who hunted each other down in order to collect more power. The franchise, which includes four sequels and three TV series, is famous for the iconic tagline "There can be only one".

The plot of this latest take is unknown, as is whether Cavill will be playing a brand new character to the universe or a character from previous projects. The reboot has been gestating for a while with everyone from Ryan Reynolds to Justin Lin involved at some point

Neal H. Moritz, Josh Davis and David Leitch are on board to produce. Amanda Lewis, Patrick Wachsberger and Gregory Widen will executive produce.

Cavill can next be seen in the second season of the Netflix series "The Witcher" and he recently signed up to play Sherlock Holmes again in "Enola Holmes 2"
