"Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie" is a sci-fi mockumentary film directed by Matt Johnson and written by Johnson and Jay McCarrol based on their TV shows "Nirvana the Band the Show" and "Nirvanna the Band the Show".
Johnson and McCarrol also star as fictionalised versions of themselves as part of a band called "Nirvanna the Band", who in the film plan to book a show at the Rivoli, which goes horribly wrong and they accidentally travel back to the year 2008.
The film premiered at the 2025 South by Southwest Film & TV Festival, and opened in theaters on February 13, 2026. On March 24 it was released on digital platforms.
