Tom Hardy ("The Dark Knight Rises") has been confirmed for the lead role in the Elton John biopic "Rocketman". Although rumors of Hardy's casting had been floating around for some time, the confirmation came today via an official press release from Focus Features.
The film is written by Lee Hall ("War Horse", "Billy Elliot") and will be directed by Michael Gracey. The story will focus on Elton John's life, from his years as a prodigy at the Royal Academy of Music through his influential and enduring musical partnership with Bernie Taupin. Furthermore, Elton John will re-record many of his iconic hits for the film
"Rocketman" is scheduled to shoot in fall 2014. You can read the full press release after the jump.
