6 New THE GIVER Clips Featuring Brenton Thwaites, Jeff Bridges and Meryl Streep

Six new clips have been released for "The Giver", the adaptation of Lois Lowry's book of the same name. Directed by Phillip Noyce ("Salt"), the film stars Brenton Thwaites, Jeff Bridges, Meryl Streep, Alexander Skarsgard, Katie Holmes, Cameron Monaghan and Taylor Swift.

"The Giver" opens in theaters on August 15th.

A new featurette has been released for the sci-fi drama "The Giver". The film is based on a novel by Lois Lowry and it depicts an utopian society in which war, pain and suffering have been eradicated. All the memories of the past are kept by a single man, known as "The Giver". At the center of this premise lies a young boy (Brenton Thwaites) who has been chosen to learn from The Giver (Jeff Bridges) and replace him. The featurette further explains the story, giving us a clearer idea about this strange world and its protagonist. The film is directed by Phillip Noyce ("Salt", "Patriot Games", "The Quiet American") and also stars Meryl Streep, Alexander Skarsgard, Katie Holmes, Cameron Monaghan and Taylor Swift.

The first official trailer for the sci-fi drama "The Giver" has been released. The film's story takes place within an utopian society of the future where war, pain, suffering, differences or choice have been eliminated. In this ideal world of conformity, a young boy (Brenton Thwaites) is chosen to learn from The Giver (Jeff Bridges), an elder who holds all memories of the past, about the true pain and pleasure of the "real" world, but also discovers the dark, complex secrets behind his fragile community. Based on Lois Lowry's novel of the same name, the film is directed by Phillip Noyce ("Salt", "Patriot Games", "The Quiet American") and also stars Meryl Streep, Alexander Skarsgard, Katie Holmes, Cameron Monaghan and Taylor Swift.

Taylor Swift & Katie Holmes to Star in THE GIVER Alongside Meryl Streep

Singer-songwriter Taylor Swift and actress Katie Holmes ("Batman Begins") have joined the cast of the sci-fi drama "The Giver".

The film is an adaptation of the popular young adult novel of the same name by Lois Lowry and it tells the story of a 12-year-old boy (Brenton Thwaites) who is selected for life service as the Receiver of Memories within a seemingly perfect community, without war, pain, suffering, differences or choice. The boy must work with The Giver (Jeff Bridges), "an old man who teaches the boy to use his sensory gifts".

Katie Holmes will play the boy's mother, but Swift's role has not been announced, yet.

Meryl Streep will star as "the antagonistic Chief Elder, who assigns the young their tasks". The film also stars Alexander Skarsgard ("True Blood"), Odeya Rush ("The Odd Life of Timothy Green") and Cameron Monaghan ("Shameless").

"The Giver" will be directed by Phillip Noyce ("Salt") and has been scheduled for release on August 15, 2014.
