The epic blockbuster "The Great Wall" is a China-US co-production directed by Yimou Zhang ("Hero", "House of Flying Daggers"). The film stars Matt Damon as a European mercenary who becomes involved in the defense of the Great Wall of China against a mysterious horde of monsters. The Wall is under siege once every 60 years, and only The Nameless Order, a military force commissioned by the Song Dynasty, can repel the creatures.
The film also stars Pedro Pascal, Tian Jing, Willem Dafoe, Andy Lau, Lu Han, Kenny Lin and Eddie Peng.
"The Great Wall" opened in theaters in the U.S. on February 17th to a modest $18 million opening weekend. The film was a much bigger success overseas where it has already grossed $244 million. Reviews for the film were mixed to negative.
