Anna Kendrick to star in Disney's new Santa Claus film
Anna Kendrick ("Pitch Perfect") is in talks to star in a Santa Claus film for Disney. There is currently no title, but it's being pitched as "Nicole", and Kendrick would star as Santa's daughter, who is forced to take over the family business when her father decides to retire and her brother gets cold feet right before Christmas Eve.

The script has been written by Marc Lawrence ("Miss Congeniality") and he is also set to direct. This would be Lawrence's first directorial effort since the 2014 romantic comedy "The Rewrite" which starred Hugh Grant and Marisa Tomei. Suzanne Todd ("Bad Moms") will produce, with Louie Provost overseeing for Disney.

After a busy 2016 in which she starred in "The Accountant", "Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates", "The Hollars", "Table 19", and voiced one of the lead characters in Dreamworks' "Trolls", Kendrick is preparing to start filming on "Pitch Perfect 3" for a December release.

the-rewrite-trailer-poster-hugh-grant-marisa-tomei

The first trailer and poster for the romantic comedy "The Rewrite" have been released. Written and directed by Marc Lawrence, the film stars Hugh Grant as an award-winning writer who accepts a job in a quiet little town, teaching a course in screenwriting to help him out of a bad patch. Here he falls in love with a single mother working two jobs (Marisa Tomei). Allison Janney, J.K. Simmons and Chris Elliott also star. Writer/director Lawrence has a lot of experience in the romcom field, though his work ranges from good ("Miss Congeniality", "Music and Lyrics") to quite bad ("Did You Hear About the Morgans?", "Miss Congeniality 2").

"The Rewrite" opens in theaters in the UK on October 8th.
