"The Mauritanian" is a legal drama directed by Kevin Macdonald ("The Last King of Scotland") from a script by Michael Bronner, Rory Haines ("Informer") and Sohrab Noshirvani ("Black Adam") based on the 2015 memoir "Guantánamo Diary" by Mohamedou Ould Salahi.
The film tells the true story of Salahi's experience of being held for fourteen years without charge in the Guantanamo Bay detention camp. The cast features Jodie Foster, Tahar Rahim, Shailene Woodley and Benedict Cumberbatch.
"The Mauritanian" was released on February 12, 2021.
