"The Mauritanian" is a legal drama directed by Kevin Macdonald ("The Last King of Scotland") from a script by Michael Bronner, Rory Haines ("Informer") and Sohrab Noshirvani ("Black Adam") based on the 2015 memoir "Guantánamo Diary" by Mohamedou Ould Salahi.

The film tells the true story of Salahi's experience of being held for fourteen years without charge in the Guantanamo Bay detention camp. The cast features Jodie Foster, Tahar Rahim, Shailene Woodley and Benedict Cumberbatch.

"The Mauritanian" was released on February 12, 2021.

Three new clips and behind-the-scenes featurettes have been released for Kevin Macdonald's thriller "Black Sea". Jude Law stars as a rogue submarine captain who pulls together a misfit crew to go after Nazi gold rumored to be hidden within a sunken U-boat in the depths of the Black Sea. Scoot McNairy, Ben Mendelsohn, Jodie Whitaker and Michael Smiley co-star. Early reviews are solid (78% fresh so far on Rottentomatoes.com) and it looks like Law delivers an amazing performance.

"Black Sea" opens in theaters on January 23, 2015.

BLACK SEA Trailer and Poster: Jude Law Searches for Nazi Gold in Submarine Thriller

The first trailer and poster for the submarine thriller "Black Sea" have been released. Directed by Kevin Macdonald ("The Last King of Scotland"), the film stars Jude Law as a rogue submarine captain who pulls together a misfit crew to go after Nazi gold rumored to be hidden within a sunken U-boat in the depths of the Black Sea. It doesn't take long for greed and desperation to set in and cause the men to turn on each other. The film also stars Scoot McNairy, Ben Mendelsohn, Jodie Whitaker and Michael Smiley.

"Black Sea" opens in theaters on January 23, 2015.

HOW I LIVE NOW Movie Clips - Saoirse Ronan

Three movie clips for Kevin Macdonald’s new film "How I Live Now" have been released.

The film is a post-apocalyptic drama based on Meg Rosoff's novel and it stars Saoirse Ronan as Daisy, a teenage girl from New York City who travels to England in order to spend the summer with her relatives. Here she falls in love with a handsome young man (George MacKay), but when World War III breaks out they are forced to survive in a world engulfed in chaos. The cast also features Tom Holland and Anna Chancellor.

"How I Live Now" will get a limited release in the US on November 8th.

New on DVD & Blu-Ray : THE EAGLE (2011)

A throwback to the historical epics of yesteryear, "The Eagle", directed by Kevin Macdonald ("State of Play", "The Last King of Scotland"), is a competent adventure flick that will appeal to those who want to enjoy a good action flick, but also to those who like a little historical depth to go along with the epic fights. Macdonald, being a documentarian at heart, makes this much more than just a mindless violent version of history. The level of detail he displays here is the best thing about this movie. The Blu-Ray and DVD releases also include the Unrated edition which basically adds or extends scenes containing graphic violence, which would have raised the rating from PG-13 to R in theaters. Even so, don't expect it to be as violent as, let's say, "Centurion".
