Weekend Box-Office: THOR 3 Still Reigns Supreme While DADDY'S HOME 2 and ORIENT EXPRESS Score Strong Debuts

Marvel's "Thor: Ragnarok" is still on top for a second consecutive weekend at the box-office, while newcomers "Daddy's Home 2" and "Murder on the Orient Express" scored strong openings.

THOR: RAGNAROK Trailers, Clips, Featurettes, Images and Posters

"Thor: Ragnarok" is the third installment in the Marvel Studios series featuring the comics character Thor, and the seventeenth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film is directed by Taika Waititi ("What We Do in the Shadows") and is partly based on the 2006 "Planet Hulk" comics storyline.

Chris Hemsworth reprises the role of Thor, who finds himself imprisoned by the fire demon Surtur (voiced by Clancy Brown) and learns that Asgard will soon be destroyed in the prophetic event known as Ragnarök. Thor must race against time to prevent the destruction of his homeworld at the hands of the ruthless Hela (Cate Blanchett), the Goddess of Death.

The cast also includes Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hiddleston, Jeff Goldblum, Tessa Thompson, Taika Waititi, Anthony Hopkins, Karl Urban, Rachel House, Idris Elba, Tadanobu Asano and Ray Stevenson.

"Thor: Ragnarok" opened in theaters on November 3rd, 2017 and received an overwhelmingly positive reception from critics. The film is expected to gross around $115 million in its opening weekend at the box-office.

First THOR: RAGNAROK Images Featuring Chris Hemsworth, Cate Blanchett and More

Today we have our first look at the upcoming Marvel movie "Thor: Ragnarok" via Entertainment Weekly. The images feature Chris Hemsworth as the titular superhero, Cate Blanchett as the villainous Hela, the Goddess of Death, Jeff Goldblum as the Grandmaster, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner and Tom Hiddleston as Loki.

The film will also star Anthony Hopkins, Idris Elba, Jaimie Alexander, Ray Stevenson, Karl Urban and Sam Neill.

Directed by Taika Waititi ("What We Do in the Shadows"), "Thor: Ragnarok" is set to open in theaters on November 3rd.

Weekend Box-Office Report: THE BEST MAN HOLIDAY, THOR: THE DARK WORLD

"Thor: The Dark World" managed to hold on at the top spot this weekend but was very closely followed by the comedy "The Best Man Holiday". The Marvel sequel pulled off $38 million over the 3-day timeframe, bringing its total cume to $146 million in the US, which is still under the first "Thor" ($181 million), but well on its way to beat the first film's gross. The Thor franchise is not one of Marvel's ultra-high earners domestically, but internationally it's doing much better. "Thor: The Dark World" has earned $332 million overseas, so far.

"The Best Man Holiday", a sequel to the 1999 comedy "The Best Man", managed to take second place with $30 million in its opening weekend versus a $17 million budget. The first film earned $34 million in its entire theatrical run, costing only $8 million to make.

The comedy "Last Vegas" and the animated feature "Free Birds" also followed each other pretty closely, but with much smaller figures, $8.8 million and $8.3 million, respectively. The R-rated comedy "Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa" rounds up the top five with $7.6 million.

Once again, Marvel has released a wealth of promotional material for their upcoming epic film Thor: The Dark World. Two new clips offer a romantic reunion for Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Jane (Natalie Portman) and an epic battle scene. A new featurette further explains the plot and character motivations, and a complete 15-minute B-Roll provides a great look at how the whole thing was done and all the hard work that went into making it.

In this sequel, Thor battles an ancient race of Dark Elves led by the vengeful Malekith (Christopher Eccleston) who threatens to plunge the universe back into darkness after the events of The Avengers.
