Gal Gadot Picture
"Wonder Woman" star Gal Gadot is set to star in the upcoming adaptation of Agatha Christie's 1937 novel "Death on the Nile". The film is a follow up to 20th Century Fox's "Murder on the Orient Express", which grossed over $350 million worldwide last year. Kenneth Branagh will return to direct and star as famed detective Hercule Poirot. Judy Hofflund, Simon Kinberg, Ridley Scott, Kevin Walsh and Mark Gordon are producing.

The story centers on Poirot investigating a murder that takes place during a luxurious cruise on the Nile River. Gadot will play Lennet Ridgeway Doyle, a rich heiress. Orient Express writer Michael Green will also return to pen the adaptation. The film is scheduled for release on December 20, 2019.

"Death on the Nile" was previously adapted for the big screen in 1978. That film starred Peter Ustinov as Poirot, and the supporting cast included Bette Davis, Angela Lansbury, Maggie Smith, Mia Farrow and David Niven.

The Israeli actress is currently filming "Wonder Woman 1984", and she will also star opposite Dwayne Johnson in the action-comedy "Red Notice". She is also in talks to star in Showtime's upcoming Hedy Lamarr miniseries.

Despite high expectations for Warner Bros and DC Comics' "Justice League" movie, it ended up slightly below what would have been regarded as an acceptable comic book blockbuster debut, but it did crush the competition over the weekend. Lionsgate's "Wonder" also managed to score an impressive opening weekend.

The 2017 mystery drama "Murder on the Orient Express" is a new adaptation of Agatha Christie's 1934 novel of the same name. Directed by Kenneth Branagh ("Thor", "Cinderella") and adapted by Michael Green ("Logan", "Blade Runner 2049"), it is the fourth adaptation of Christie's novel. The most popular of the previous adaptations is the 1974 film directed by Sidney Lumet.

This week in theaters we have a new adaptation of Agatha Christie's "Murder on the Orient Express" featuring a star-studded cast. However, the word from Hollywood is that it's not a very good adaptation.

We also have the comedy sequel "Daddy's Home 2", which adds John Lithgow and Mel Gibson to the already perfect chemistry between Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg. Just don't ask the critics what they thought about the movie, unless you want your holiday cheer ruined.

In limited release you should definitely check out the dark dramedy "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri", which is already starting to pick up awards and is considered a solid Oscar hopeful. And another film worth seeing is the horror actioner "Mayhem" starring Steven Yeun ("The Walking Dead").
