lady-bird-new-on-dvd-and-blu-ray

Product Description: Breaking records as Rotten Tomatoes ''BEST-REVIEWED MOVIE OF ALL TIME'' and five-time Academy Award® nominee (including BEST PICTURE), critics and fans are all applauding for this five-star coming-of-age comedy.

Christine ''Lady Bird'' McPherson (SAOIRSE RONAN) fights against but is exactly like her wildly loving, deeply opinionated and strong-willed mom (LAURIE METCALF), a nurse working tirelessly to keep her family afloat after Lady Bird's father (TRACY LETTS) loses his job. LADY BIRD is an affecting look at the relationships that shape us, the beliefs that define us, and the unmatched beauty of a place called home.

pga-2018-nominations-announced

The Producers Guild of America has announced its nominees for the 2018 awards season and they include most of the usual suspects with one big surprise. Since an unexpected tie occured, the Darryl F. Zanuck award for theatrical motion pictures includes 11 nominees this year, instead of the usual 10 films. The more or less expected picks were "The Big Sick", "Call Me By Your Name", "Dunkirk", "Get Out", "I Tonya", "Lady Bird", "The Post", "Molly's Game", "The Shape of Water" and "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri".

The big surprise, however, is the nomination of DC comics adaptation "Wonder Woman". It was a decent comic book adaptation, certainly better than expected, but not what I would call a great film, and certainly an odd pick overall. Still, this isn't the first time that the PGA has favored successful comic book adaptations with positive critical reception. "Deadpool" and "The Dark Knight" were also nominated by the PGA.

The animated features nominated for the PGA awards are "The Boss Baby", "Coco", "Despicable Me 3", "Ferdinand" and "The LEGO Batman Movie".

The PGA awards are usually reliable Oscar precursors, matching picks with the Academy in 19 out of 28 years. The last two years showed some divergence, with the PGA choosing "La La Land" in 2017 and "The Big Short" in 2016, while the Oscars picked "Moonlight" and "Spotlight" for those respective years.

The winners of the 2018 Producers Guild Awards will be announced on January 20th.
