Weekend Box-Office The Batman Sophomore frame

With no new wide releases for the weekend, "The Batman" had a clear path to the top of the box-office in its sophomore frame, and the film managed to perform better than any other recent Batman movie. Also, the Top 5 this weekend looks exactly the same as it did last week.

With no new major releases in theaters this weekend, "Uncharted" easily held on to the top spot. Meanwhile, Open Road released the Foo Fighters horror comedy "Studio 666", and United Artists Releasing expanded "Cyrano" into a semi-wided release.

Box-Office: UNCHARTED Tops Presidents' Day Weekend With $45 Million

This week's new releases helped the box-office recover after the lackluster Super Bowl weekend results. This year's President's Day weekend saw the release of the highly anticipated video game adaptation "Uncharted" starring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg, Channing Tatum's directorial debut "Dog" and LD Entertainment's horror film "The Cursed".

Box-Office: DEATH ON THE NILE Conquers Super Bowl Weekend as MARRY ME and BLACKLIGHT Stumble

This year's Super Bowl weekend was once again a dry one at the box-office. Three new wide releases duked it out this weekend: Disney/Fox's period murder mystery "Death on the Nile", the romantic comedy "Marry Me" starring Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson, and the Liam Neeson action flick "Blacklight".

DEATH ON THE NILE (2022) - Trailers, Clips, Featurettes, Images and Posters

"Death on the Nile" is a mystery crime drama directed by Kenneth Branagh ("Belfast", "Murder on the Orient Express") from a script by Michael Green ("Logan", "Blade Runner 2049") based on Agatha Christie's 1937 novel of the same name.

Branagh returns as Hercule Poirot, and the ensemble cast also includes Annette Bening, Russell Brand, Ali Fazal, Dawn French, Gal Gadot, Armie Hammer, Rose Leslie, Emma Mackey, Sophie Okonedo, Jennifer Saunders and Letitia Wright.

The film opened in theaters on February 9, 2022 in the UK, and on February 11th in the US.

New Trailers: UNCHARTED, DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS, DEATH ON THE NILE, THE AFTERPARTY, THE WITCHER: BLOOD ORIGIN and THE ROYAL TREATMENT

Today we have new trailers for:
  • Sony's highly anticipated action adventure film "Uncharted" based on the PlayStation video game franchise. The film is directed by Ruben Fleischer ("Zombieland") and it stars Tom Holland, Mark Wahlberg, Sophia Ali, Tati Gabrielle and Antonio Banderas
  • The Marvel movie "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness" directed by Sam Raimi ("Spider-Man", "Evil Dead"), who replaced Scott Derrickson. Derrickson quit the project due to creative differences. The cast includes Benedict Cumberbatch, Benedict Wong, Rachel McAdams, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Elizabeth Olsen.
  • The Agatha Christie-based murder mystery drama "Death on the Nile". Directed by Kenneth Branagh, the film is a sequel to the 2017 film "Murder on the Orient Express", and it stars Kenneth Branagh, Gal Gadot, Annette Bening, Russell Brand, Letitia Wright, Dawn French, Rose Leslie, Sophie Okonedo and Armie Hammer.

Gal Gadot Picture
"Wonder Woman" star Gal Gadot is set to star in the upcoming adaptation of Agatha Christie's 1937 novel "Death on the Nile". The film is a follow up to 20th Century Fox's "Murder on the Orient Express", which grossed over $350 million worldwide last year. Kenneth Branagh will return to direct and star as famed detective Hercule Poirot. Judy Hofflund, Simon Kinberg, Ridley Scott, Kevin Walsh and Mark Gordon are producing.

The story centers on Poirot investigating a murder that takes place during a luxurious cruise on the Nile River. Gadot will play Lennet Ridgeway Doyle, a rich heiress. Orient Express writer Michael Green will also return to pen the adaptation. The film is scheduled for release on December 20, 2019.

"Death on the Nile" was previously adapted for the big screen in 1978. That film starred Peter Ustinov as Poirot, and the supporting cast included Bette Davis, Angela Lansbury, Maggie Smith, Mia Farrow and David Niven.

The Israeli actress is currently filming "Wonder Woman 1984", and she will also star opposite Dwayne Johnson in the action-comedy "Red Notice". She is also in talks to star in Showtime's upcoming Hedy Lamarr miniseries.
