The 2026 "Resident Evil" film is a survival horror directed by Zach Cregger ("Barbarian", "Weapons"), from a script he co-wrote alongside Shay Hatten ("John Wick: Chapter 4"). This is the second reboot and eighth film overall in the "Resident Evil" film series, based on Capcom's video game franchise of the same name.

The film's plot is set during events from the 1998 video game "Resident Evil 2" and it follows Bryan (Austin Abrams), a hapless medical courier who is tasked with delivering a package to a remote hospital. He soon finds himself caught in the middle of an outbreak in Racoon City and must fight through hordes of mutated creatures to survive.

The cast also includes Zach Cherry, Kali Reis, Johnno Wilson, and Paul Walter Hauser. The film was released in theaters on September 18, 2026. It is currently the highest-rated film based on a video game on both Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic.
