Julianne Nicholson to Reprise MARE OF EASTTOWN Role in TASK Season 2

Two-time Emmy winner Julianne Nicholson has joined the second season of the HBO crime drama series "Task", and she will be reprising her Emmy-winning role as Lori Ross, from "Mare of Easttown". While the crossover between "Task" and "Mare of Easttown" might seem strange, both shows hail from the same creator and showrunner, Brad Ingelsby, and take place in the working-class suburbs of Philadelphia.

Here is the Season 2 official synopsis: "Tom Brandis (Mark Ruffalo) takes the helm of a new task force, but the deeper the operation runs, the harder it is to tell who’s the target".

The previously announced Season 2 cast members inclues Mahershala Ali as Eddie Barnes, Harry Melling as Brennan Boylan, Adam Nagaitis as Luke Clemmons, Aminah Nieves as Nataly Zamora and Edgar Ramírez as Miguel Contreras.

"Mare of Easttown" premiered on HBO in 2021 and starred Kate Winslet, Jean Smart, Angourie Rice, Cailee Spaeny, Evan Peters, Sosie Bacon and Guy Pearce. It won 4 Emmys and was nominated for a total of sixteen trophies. Although it was originally a miniseries, Winslet and Ingelsby have teased a second season of "Mare of Easttown".

Ingelsby serves as creator, writer, showrunner and executive producer. Paul Lee and Mark Roybal executive produce for wiip alongside Jeremiah Zagar, Mark Ruffalo, and Ron Schmidt. Nicole Jordan-Webber and Karen Wacker co-executive produce.

Nicholson also stars in the upcoming drama "The Riders" opposite Brad Pitt.

Mahershala Ali Joins TASK Season 2

Two-time Academy Award winner Mahersala Ali is set to join the cast of the second season of HBO's crime drama series "Task". The new season is currently in pre-production. The show stars Mark Ruffalo, Tom Pelphrey, Emilia Jones, Jamie McShane, Sam Keeley, Thuso Mbedu, Fabien Frankel, Alison Oliver, Raúl Castillo, Silvia Dionicio, Phoebe Fox and Martha Plimpton.

Here is the official synopsis for the the second season: "Tom Brandis (Ruffalo) takes the helm of a new task force, but the deeper the operation runs, the harder it is to tell who's the target".

Ali will star as Eddie Barnes, who is described as "a seasoned and well-respected DEA agent in Philadelphia whose team comes into conflict with Tom's unit".

"Crime 101" is a crime thriller written and directed by Bart Layton ("American Animals") based on the 2020 novella of the same name by Don Winslow. The film stars Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Barry Keoghan, Monica Barbaro, Corey Hawkins, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Nick Nolte and Halle Berry. It opened in theaters on February 13, 2026.

HAL & HARPER Series Trailer, Featurette, Images and Poster

"Hal & Harper" is a new dramedy series created, written and directed by Cooper Raiff ("Cha Cha Real Smooth"). Raiff also stars alongside Lili Reinhart, Betty Gilpin, Mark Ruffalo, Addison Timlin, Havana Rose Liu and Alyah Chanelle Scott. The show premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival, it was released in Australia on June 26th on Stan, while globally it premiered on Mubi on October 19, 2025.

"Mickey 17" is a sci-fi comedy written, directed and produced by Oscar-winning filmmaker Bong Joon-ho ("Snowpiercer", "Parasite") based on the 2022 novel "Mickey 7" by Edward Ashton. The cast includes Robert Pattinson, Naomi Ackie, Steven Yeun, Toni Collette and Mark Ruffalo. The film opened in theaters in South Korea on February 28, 2025, and on March 7th in the US.

Mark Ruffalo Joins Chris Hemsworth in Amazon's CRIME 101

Oscar-nominated actor Mark Ruffalo ("Poor Things") is in talks to star in Amazon MGM Studios' upcoming thriller "Crime 101" based on Don Winslow's novella of the same name. Chris Hemsowrth is already on board to star and produce alongside producing partner Ben Grayson.

Plot details are being kept under wraps. The original short story follows high-level jewel thefts that are taking place up and down the Pacific Coast, which police have linked to Colombian cartels. Detective Lou Lubesnick has other ideas, and he zeroes in on one perp, a thief looking for a final score.

The film is written and directed by Bart Layton ("American Animals"). Peter Straughan ("Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy") also contributed to the script.

Producers include Story Factory's Shane Salerno, Working Title's Eric Fellner and Tim Bevan, RAW's Layton and Dimitri Doganis and Derrin Schlesinger. RAW's Joely Fether will executive produce.

Ruffalo is currently filming HBO's limited series "Task" from "Mare Of East Town" creator Brad Ingelsby, and can next be seen in Bong Joon Ho's "Mickey 17" opposite Robert Pattinson and in Cooper Raif's series "Hal & Harper".
