Halle Bailey (

"The Jerk") have joined the cast of A24's untitled musical comedy written and directed by
Jesse Eisenberg. Eisenberg also stars alongside
Julianne Moore, Paul Giamatti, Eldar Isgandarov, Bonnie Milligan, Colton Ryan, Lilli Cooper and
Maulik Pancholy.
The film, which started production in April, follows a shy woman (Moore) who is unexpectedly cast in a community theater musical production, going to extremes as she loses herself in the role. Eisenberg also wrote the film's original music and lyrics.
Steven Gizicki (
"A Complete Unknown",
"La La Land") is the music supervisor, and
Bill Sherman (
"In the Heights") is the executive music producer. Choreography is by
Andy Blankenbuehler (
"Hamilton"), and
Drew Daniels (
"Anora") is the cinematographer.
Fruit Tree's
Emma Stone, Dave McCary and
Ali Herting will produce with Topic Studios serving as executive producers. Eisenberg previosuly worked with Fruit Tree and A24 on his 2023 directorial debut
"When You Finish Saving the World". Fruit Tree and A24 previously joined forces on
"I Saw the TV Glow" and
"The Curse".
This is Eisenberg's third directorial project. His latest,
"A Real Pain" earned him an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay, while co-star
Kieran Culkin won Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role.
